Cell Swap: The Balloon Boy's Parents Are Going to Jail!

Wednesday December 23, 2009

They didn't get the reality show they wanted, but Richard and Mayumi and Heene will get a dose of reality next year. The Wife Swap parents are going to jail! For planning the much publicized Balloon Boy hoax. Richard Heene has been sentenced to 90 days in jail. His wife Mayumi has been sentenced to 20 days.

Richard Heene will serve his jail time first, but the judge was nice enough to delay his sentence till after the holidays. According to TMZ, he will serve 60 of his 90 days on a work-release program. After that, he will be on four years probation. Mayumi Heene will report to jail after her husband completes his sentence.

Oh, and here's another part of the punishment that likely deflated Richard Heene's balloon: He's not allowed to profit from the Balloon Boy hoax over the period of his probation. Guess he'll have to find another way to pay the state of Colorado the $42,000 bill he now owes for the incident.

Like we said, there are much better ways for a family to get a reality show. We guess the Heenes learned the hard way.

Alyssa Milano Video on Funny or Die Targets Snooki and ‘Jersey Shore’

Wednesday December 23, 2009

In a new Alyssa Milano video on the website Funny or Die, the Italian-American actress sends a message about the controversial reality show Jersey Shore.

View Alyssa Milano's video here.

In the sped-up video, titled Alyssa Milano's Evolution: Jersey Shore, Alyssa is transformed into a character that resembles Jersey Shore's Snooki. Then the rather extreme image is  is put on an MTV poster advertising Jersey Shore.

The video ends with the words, "No wonder our perception of Jersey is distorted."

Alyssa Milano is just one of the celebs who has spoken out about Jersey Shore, which has been criticized for encouraging Italian-American stereotypes. "My husband actually showed me the trailer on YouTube last night," she told US Weekly last week. "I got upset. It upset me. I was like, 'Turn that off!' So no, I don't think I'll be watching that!'"

Is Simon Cowell Leaving American Idol? His Brother Says So!

Tuesday December 22, 2009

The ninth season of American Idol may be Simon Cowell's final season on the show. There has been some recent buzz that Simon might be leaving Idol to focus on X Factor, a successful UK reality show he hopes to bring to the US. Now Simon's brother is saying there's truth to the rumors.

"A press statement is being prepared which will confirm what everybody expected," Tony Cowell announced in a podcast posted to his website. "Simon will leave Idol at the end of 2010 to concentrate on bringing the American version of The X Factor to U.S. TV in 2011."

Thanks Tony for dishing, but we're not sure if we should be planning any goodbye articles for Simon any time soon. Maybe we're just in denial, but we hate to believe that Simon would turn his back on Idol for X-Factor, no matter how much potential the talent competition that discovered Leona Lewis has here in the States. Simon has constantly teased us about possibly leaving Idol, so I think we need that official announcement to officially care! We'll keep you posted on Simon's possible departure as the story unfolds.
