I'm going to do something that not many American Idol fans seem to be doing on the message boards I have been reading -- I'm going to defend contestant Brenna Gethers. I'm not sticking up for Brenna because she is from my hometown and was only two grades behind me at our high school. Nope. I'm going to defend her because I believe she's misunderstood. Behind the tough attitude, I think there's a girl who is just trying to please everyone. Last week, the sassy 25-year-old tried to show her softer side and the judges bashed her for it. They asked her to "bring the claws back out." This week, she did just that. Now the judges seem turned off by the same attitude they asked her to bring back. Give the girl a break! And was her performance of "Last Dance" really that bad? I don't think so!
