Chris Daughtry Gets Support From His Wife and Ace Young After Elimination

Thursday May 11, 2006
If fans were so devastated when Chris Daughtry was voted off American Idol last night, his wife must have been a wreck, right?

Not really, Chris told me in a media interview this morning. "I was really expecting her to be really out of control and I was going to have to be the one to console her," Chris said. "But I think it was the other way around and she was really just telling me how proud she was of me and that she was really sorry that that happened. But she said that things happen for a reason and we just have to hang on and see what that is and see that there's a bigger picture there."

Chris' wife isn't the only person offering him support.  Former Idol contestant Ace Young, who became a best friend to Chris when they roomed together,  is also showing his love.

"He called me last night," Chris told me. "We became like brothers, actually, on the show and we probably always will be. He called just to check on me and see how I was doing. Obviously, he's been through it before...It's great to have lifelong friends out of this."

Chris told reporters why he thinks he was the one voted off.  "I think that people were probably comfortable in the fact that they thought I was a shoo-in," he said. "I think that that was the downfall, in my opinion."

But Chris is staying optimistic about his future in music. "I'm bummed . I'm disappointed. But I'm trying to see the bigger picture that there's gonna be bigger opportunities," he said.

It’s a shame that all the viewers of American Idol don’t even realize just what they voted off last night with Chris Daughtry. He is a good man with a loving heart, a wonderful family, strong moral values and firm faith. His Band, Absent Element is incredible and they should be kept together with a fantastic recording contract.
So just how much did American Idol and all it’s viewers lose last night? Much more then they realize.
How much must we lose in morals and values before we realize we have gone too far? Are people so accustomed to hearing nothing more then sex, drugs, violence and profanity (not to mention all the bleeps) in our music today that we can’t find our way back? I hope that isn’t the case.
Chris Daughtry will go far and will be very successful!! I just hope he can accomplish all this with Absent Element intact!! That’s how it should be.

I voted for 2 hours straight Tuesday night, using 2 cell phones. One on line 2, the other using line 6. The lines were busy constantly. I maybe got through 15 times total and was redialing constantly for two solid hours. I just don’t know what could have happened. Chris should still be in the competition.

I’m posting a comment on every comment board I can!!!! Here is what I wrote to Fox.

I am an American Idol fan – I have watched every season and have been to at least one concert from every season. I am disgusted that Chris was voted off. This will make it hard for me to watch American Idol and I am inclined to never go to an American Idol concert again! I believe that a phone problem occurred on Chris’s 2 available lines which caused a glitch and not all of his votes were counted or people were unable to get through to vote. I have a feeling that down the road a huge media story will unravel with news that American Idol was fixed. This is the first time I have written to Fox about such allegations, but now feel compelled to voice my opinion. I should have spoken up when Reuben edged Clay for the most votes. The American Public knew at that point American Idol was a hoax.

Thank you for taking the time to investigate the real reason Chris was eliminated.

I am thoroughly disgusted with all this. Chris is THE AMERICAN IDOL and I am hearing it may have been fixed? I believe there should be another chance for Chris and if there isn’t I believe a lot of people are upset enough to forget American Idol. I know I don’t want to watch anymore. How could something like this happen?….there is only one way. GIVE CHRIS ANOTHER CHANCE…..give us another chance to get all our votes in. Truley truley UNFAIR!!!!!!!!

I also tried to call for the 2 hours sraight on Chris’s line, as it sounds so did many other voters, on a whim I decided to call Kat’s line and it rang right through, so I made a vote for her without intending to. There is a web site www.thepetitionsite.com (do not add any spaces) where you can vote to bring Chris back tothe show and guess what it was at like 50,500 and now for the past 2 hours has been unavailable. How quaint. We only have until tomorrow the 15th to sign the petition.
