Who Should Win American Idol 5 -- Katharine or Taylor?

So, the American Idol finalists are Taylor and Katharine. These two COMPLETELY different singers will battle it out at the Kodak Theater next week. This should be interesting. I usually have a prediction by now, but I have no idea who will take the title this year. Here's my two cents on why Taylor may win -- and why Katharine may win. Let your opinion be known by voting in the poll below or by adding a comment.

I’m rooting for Taylor. He adds a difference to the lineup of past Idols. And variety and versatility is important and the fans know it! Katharine’s just a plain ol’ Jane. Good voice, but so does the so many stereotype singers of her age and time! Taylor’s the next idol!
ELLIOT DID NOT DERSERVE TO GO! It was very close but I think Cathrine should’ve gone last night and let Taylor and Elliot battle it out. They are two completly different singers. Taylor and Elliot have two different styles that American Idol has never seen before. TAYLOR, YOU ARE THE NEXT AMERICAN IDOL!!
Katharine should have been gone along time ago she cant hold a tune. Voting Elliot off! whats wrong with this picture? he had the best voice!
Chris & Elliott should have been the top 2, and Chris should have been the next American Idol. However, since America didn’t vote that way, I now have to root for Taylor to become the next American Idol. He’s a lot better than Katharine, and a lot more original.

I have been watching all along - never voting but….Kat has not impressed me at all the last 3 shows. How she beat out Chris is beyond me. He was a constant. She has had many many weak moments in her songs. Taylor and Elliot have grown tremendously with each preformance. While I think Kat has a very strong voice, Taylor and Elliot out preformed her hands down. They should have been the top 2 finalists. However, that didn’t happen and my vote now will be for Taylor. Kat is good but not AS good as Taylor. That’s just my opinion you are welcome to yours! Good luck Taylor!!!
Katherine should win American Idol,oh shure Taylor Might be talented in that he is flamboyent but as far as musical talent Katherine wins hands down.
I just want to let you all know that I love Taylor Hicks first off lol. Now, every tv station and radio says that he is the one to win this and i totaly agree. They say Katherine is the underdog. Well if us in the Soul Patrol believe Taylor can win and know he can, you have to vote.You know what happened to Chris because we didnt vote. This man has soul and Kat is nothing but a Fem-Bot. Taylor’s music goes way down deep in him and we all know that. Kat’s is only skin deep. Her mom is a music coach and she just happens to be the daughter. Go figure.LETS GO TTAYLORR!!
I never watch American Idol, and one night I was flipping through the channels and saw this guy with grey hair singing. I said DAMN! I didnt think it was an contestant I thought it was someone i never heard of. Since that night I have been following Taylor as he becomes the next American Idol! Go Taylor Hicks. If you go on tour and come near my town I will book Two tickets. Get on the Soul Train!

Kat is just a generic , average girl singer…which are a dime a dozen.
She is no Kelly…or Christina.
Taylor is unique…and he is a great performer and is so engaging. People just love him. Did you see his homecoming????? Wowza!

Taylor has been my favorite since this season started. Kat is good but shouldn’t be in the finale. She should have gone before Chris and Elliott. I guess it could be worse, we could have a McChicken finale! (Kat and Kevin, aka Chicken Little)
Taylor has music in his soul. His genuine love of music and loving fans will put him over the top! I agree that he is unique and that is what we need in music today. His voice and style is so much out of the ordinary. It is simply beautiful to see and hear someone with a new style. Best of luck to a great guy and great musician.
katharine is a much much much better singer than Taylor, her range and dynamics are flawless and her ability to sing many different genres will take her far in the music industry. taylor, while he might be original, is not a pop artist, which is what the show is all about. Taylor’s antics on stage do not impress me but only make me question whether this so called “talented singer” hasn’t been committed in mental institution. so in short, katharine’s ability far outshines Taylor’s.
I don’t think either one of them are that fantastic. Chris and Elliot would have been a better finale (IMO). Frankly, I am sick of Taylor’s cheesy dance moves.
Katharine Should Win. It should’ve been an Elliot, Chris, Katharine and Paris final 4.Taylor is the most overrated on idol. I didn’t know this years idol was “Sympathy for a guy with grey hair at a young age idol” its a singing competition people not and entertainer competition. Vocally Katharine wins hands down.

I believe Taylor should win American Idol. Its not that I don’t like Katherine I just believe that she should of been voted off a long time ago because there were definetly some better singers. I believe the reason she is in the contest still is because California is a big state with alot of votes. California you need to vote for the idols voice, presentation and the ability to remember a verse in a song. You are definelty going wrong by letting her represent California. I don’t mean to put down anybody from California this is just my opinion.
I think that Kat will win, mainly because she has the looks for an American Idol. She has a great voice, so does Taylor, but she has a better presense on stage.I think her records would outsell Taylor’s.

Alright Bob are you listening to her sing or looking at her body. Its not all about looks and presentation you have to be able to sing all songs good not 1 out of 3. Even you have to admit the last 3 shows she has only sang one song good and the other suck. You can also admit that you probably weren’t listening to a song she was singing only admiring the view. Her looks it just not going to cut it.
It’s been a long haul getting rid of the horde of “untalenteds”, not excluding any one of the contestants.
What is left are two terribly mediocre would-be, but never will-be stars, who are reflective of the hypocratical and inept table of judges who have carried them so far. The lady sings off-key and has very uncontrolled pitch. The gentleman is fat and unappealing and has no idea of what he should be singing to take advantage of what limited and untrained talent he can possibly offer.
All of the would be Idol contestants so far would be lucky to have avoided Major Bowes’famous gong. Look, America has talent to spare. Trouble is, the good ones never make it to a show like this. Probably, while standing in line, waiting to be selected as a possible contestant, they can’t help but observe the terrible “No Talents”
that surround them and they would naturally assume that they were mistakenly assigned to the line of contestants competing for a spot on the Gong Show.
It’s a terribly difficult choice to select the one of these two to reject.
If my life depended on it I would give the thumbs down to the lady.

Katherine has a nice voice and she’s pretty, but like most everything else in the current entertainment industry offerings she’s too predictable. In my opinion Katherine doesn’t have enough talent or uniqueness to cut it.
Taylor certainly has the passion and talent. You may not like his moves but consider other highly successful performers like Joe Cocker, strange moves don’t supercede talent. My only concern is, will Taylor’s label be wise enough to nurture his soul & passion while fitting him into the correct main stream songs. (I believe that is why Ruben Studdard hasn’t done very well after winning, poor music choices that don’t suit his talent.)

Everyone that is saying that Katherine is “plain” or “mediocre” or “average” are obviously women that are jealous. She is HOT… Smoking Hot! She’s got the looks, personality, bod, and she can sing OK. To me her and Chirs are what I think of when I hear “American Idol”. I love to hear Taylor sing but he does not have the look of an Idol.

George you said it she sings Ok. Ok is not good enough. Also, as a women, the jealosy thing come on is this the only reason you can come up with on why people are not voting for her. I just have one question what about the men. Why are they not voting for her. Is it because they are jealous that she is prettier than them. Give me break you know better than anyone that Taylor has the best voice and he knows how to work a stage. I will agree he acts like a white boy on crack but you know what he keeps me entertained and thats what counts and I don’t turn on my mute button because he can’t sing. So how about you get your eyes off of the twins if you know what I mean and listen more and stoping seeing more. If you have a response back have a real excuse why you would pick her.
I’m voting for Taylor and NOOO it’s NOT because I’m jealous of Katharine. I think she’s an average singer with inconsistent vocals. I think her stage presence sucks too..she smiles during songs that are supposed to display deep emotions. I feel nothing when she sings and that’s a sign of a bad singer. IMO Chris and Elliott were the best..when they would sing it would give me the chills. With that being said, at least I feel something when Taylor sings…you can feel that he has soul unlike Katharine where I’m left cold. She may be pretty, but I rather someone win with actual talent and a feel for the music they are singing.

Well tonite shows that Taylor is a complete package from head to toe. I love them both and it was very hard for me to decide. Taylor is confident in himself and his abilities to sing. Taylor reminds me of Elton John how he sings and dances. The purple velvet blazer reminded me of some of the outragious costumes Elton John has worn in the past and still continues to wear.
I heard on the news people were

this show is really fixed after
all and Katharine will win. I do
like Katharine but she didn’t sing
as well last night. Taylor will do great anyway but it will not
be fair. People have been telling me
ever since I started watching AI that

Katharine has a good voice, but she is not an idol. Taylor’s being named AMERICAN IDOL is the American dream. An average looking guy with a great voice makes it BIG!
Katharine is a beautiful girl. She has a beautiful voice and a voluptuous figure (if you like a little chunk). There are tons of girls like her all over.
She already has a rich daddy who is a producer and a mom who is a cabaret singer. She didn’t need IDOL.
