Katharine McPhee Takes A Break from Rehearsals To Talk to The Media
During the call, I asked Katharine to tell me the part of fame she is not looking forward to. "Gosh, that’s a good question. I don’t know," she said. "Maybe like plane rides or something. Plane rides sometimes make me...like going up and down I get nauseous and stuff like that. But I don’t know, I think everything, to me so far, is really exciting."
Surprised that she didn't mention the negative press, I also asked Katharine how she is handling being criticized by some Idol viewers and critics.
"You know what? To be honest I don’t really look at anything. Just talking to the people that I’ve spoken to before you, that’s usually the first time I hear stuff like that. And the thing is that on American Idol they keep us so busy here that we really don’t have time...I don’t watch Entertainment Tonight or Access Hollywood because we don’t have time, and I’d kind of rather just keep it like that.
I think as soon as you start believing your own press is when you get started to get into trouble. And I think it kind of makes you a little cuckoo too, because you think everyone is talking about you and saying negative things, and I’d just rather be positive, to be quite frank." Here’s an important part of the American Idol story: American Idol and AT&T’s telephone voting system.
Fox says the phone lines are open ONLY for two hours in each time zone. There is an UPPER LIMIT to how many dialed-in votes can be counted for each contestant. Perhaps an engineer at AT&T can say what this upper limit is. How may votes can actually be received and counted in 120 minutes?
Example:
Let’s say that 52.6 million votes (dials) are ATTEMPTED for contestant #1. However, the capacity of the phone network and the available circuits for that contestant CAP OUT at 41,355,652 (this is an imaginary number for illustration only).
Let’s say that 46.2 million votes (dials) are ATTEMPTED for contestant #2. However, the capacity of the phone network and the available circuits for that contestant CAP OUT at 41,357,855 (this is an imaginary number for illustration only).
Available phone circuits and the number of votes counted vary depending on the geographical origin of the attempted calls. (i.e., Los Angeles might have higher network capacity than Alabama.)
American Idol’s reported results would thus show that contestant #2 is the winner with 2,203 more votes than contestant #1. However, the TRUTH would be that 6.4 million MORE votes (dials) were ATTEMPTED for contestant #1, but they were NOT counted because the circuits were overloaded beyond their capacity.
Does this make sense?
This means that the REAL American Idol popular vote winner may never be known.
And this explains the unbelievably close vote margin reported last week between the top three. Many of the ATTEMPTED votes probably were NOT counted.
There are elements of randomness to the vote counting that makes it inaccurate.
Why hasn’t the media figured this out before now?
I HATE KAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Alot of people think Kat is cocky but if the truth is Kat really doesn’t have much
self-esteem she doesn’t believe she is pretty even when someone saids to her your beautiful. When someone saids something negative about Kat really has a much tougher than someone has self-esteem and can let it go. I just hope she never sees the crap so many people write about her on the message boards.
