What You Need to Know About America's Got Talent

Wednesday June 21, 2006
America's Got Talent is the new variety talent competition hosted by Regis Philbin, executive produced by Simon Cowell, and judged by David Hasselhoff, Piers Morgan, and Brandy. If you have been wondering how this show will work exactly, here's how NBC explains it:
During the first four episodes, Hasselhoff, Brandy and Morgan will view auditions, and determine which contestants advance to the semi-finals. Over the next four semi-final episodes, two performers from each of these episodes will move on to the finale: -- one chosen by the television viewing audience and one by the celebrity panel of judges. America will cast the deciding vote on America’s most talented performer.
The prize is $1 million.

America's Got Talent debut date: Wednesday, June 21 at 9 pm ET/PT.

The premier of the show was rather weak. The show does have an opportunity to be very good if the producers, judges pick the talent and get away from the Gong show Cheese aspects.
