Paris Hilton Arrested -- Simple Life Star Suspected of DUI

Thursday September 7, 2006

The Simple Life star Paris Hilton was arrested early Thursday morning after she was pulled over in Los Angeles for driving erratically. The hotel heiress/reality star/actress/singer was booked on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI before being released on her own recognizance.

According to a police statement, "The officers observed that Hilton exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. A field sobriety test was conducted at scene, and the officers determined she was driving under the influence."

Paris' spokesman, Elliot Mintz, was busy doing damage control in the early hours of the morning. He claims Paris probably appeared drunk as the result of "an empty stomach and working all day and being fatigued." He said police detected the minimum level of alcohol to warrant an arrest.

Paris was on her way home from a charity event (reportedly with her friend Kimberly Stewart) when she was arrested at about 12:30 am on Thursday. Earlier on Wednesday, she had been busy shooting the next music video for her album Paris.

TMZ.com has video of Paris returning home after she was picked up by her sister Nicky Hilton and spokesperson Mintz.

If Paris is found guilty of the charge, she will likely get probation.
