Top Model's Anchal Talks About Her Self Esteem Issues

Sunday November 12, 2006
Anchal, the contestant eliminated from America's Next Top Model on last week's episode, says she regrets feeling so insecure during the competition.

"I just wish I didn't have so much low self esteem," she told me during an interview. "It was just being next to skinny girls like them. I was just like 'I'm fat. I'm fat.'"

Anchal failed to impress the judges when she was asked to "agressively dance" during an elimination night challenge. She says "I think I just shut myself out. I was like 'How stupid do I look!'"

But the 19-year-old student, who says the judges were wrong when they said she wasn't committed to modeling, says she is growing more confident every day. And she wanted fans to know that she's "not a big crybaby."

If her modeling career doesn't work out, Anchal has another career to fall back on. She is currently studying Nuclear Management in college.

I saw the show yesterday and a few times previously with my wife. Anchal, if you read this stuff, you are NOT fat! I’m tired of the woman’s misconception of what beauty is. It’s ironic if you felt awkward because you felt “too fat” and that messed up your performance, when in truth, you were the most beautiful girl on the show. That’s what I think, anyway.

Anchal u are a very beautiful young lady & I really hated when the other females were saying bad things about u. I honestly believe u have what it takes 2 be a very successful model. Please don’t give up on your dream. God bless!
