Mario Lopez's Career : Saved By The Ballroom?

Wednesday November 15, 2006
Whether or not he wins Dancing With the Stars tonight, Mario Lopez has reason to celebrate. Dancing With The Stars may be the biggest thing to happen to his career since he played A.C. Slater on the 80s teen sitcom Saved By The Bell!

Mario's acting jobs after Saved By The Bell are nothing to brag about. He had a role on the cancelled cable series Pacific Blue, landed some guest-starring roles here and there, and recently starred on six episodes of the daytime drama Days of Our Lives.

In recent years, Mario showed off his skills a TV host. He had a big opportunity when he was hired to cohost Dick Clark's "The View-for-guys" talk show The Other Half. But that show was cancelled. Mario recently hosted Pet Star, a cable talent competition for pets.

Now Dancing With the Stars may open doors to bigger opportunities for Mario. After all, he is more popular than ever. In my Dancing With the Stars Yearbook Awards feature, I name Mario the DWTS celeb most likely to get a TV show when the competition is over.

Mario should have won DWTS. Even Emmitt knows that. Mario will get more offers. He surely deserves that. Good luck Mario. You are the champ!

When he got a stint on “Bold & The Beautiful,” I visited his official web site. Until DWtS came along, it hadn’t been updated in over 2 years! The man was right to listen to his mama and do the show after all.

Absolutely loved Mario,as did all my friends and family! I hope Emmitt isn’t so naive to think that he won because he was the best dancer.

(4) Bill says:

Mario was the best celebrity dancer in the three years of DWTS. He should have won! However, use your talent Mario and pursue not only a TV series, but leading parts in film - especially if it involves dancing. Great job!

I’m a HUGE DWTS fan, but a bigger Mario fan now. He should have won, I’m still in shock. I like Emmitt, but come on…Mario danced circles around him. For the last 3 season’s that I’ve watched DWTS, there’s NEVER been a better celebrity dancer than Mario. I’m sure we’ll see more of Mario to come…and I’m looking forward to it!

(10) Jim says:

I agree that Mario should have won. What may have hurt him is that he was so good it looked like he was a professiional whereas Emmet was definately out of his area of expertise. America loves an underdog. How else can you explain why Jerry Springer hung around for as long as he did.

(11) Cassandra Martinez says:

Mario should have won DWTS, I know now that this show is not because you are the best dancer it’s a popularity contest why on earth do you think Jerry Springer stayed on so long they let better dancers than him go DUH. Mario was truly robbed of the title DWTS, well Mario you will continuing exceeding in all you do you were the best, you were dancing at a pro level and it’s too bad that the trophy went to Emmit he was good but you were better take it to the top…….baby!
