Eliminated Idols Say Song Choice Is Key

Tuesday February 27, 2007
Let's hope the remaining American Idol finalists will pick some good songs this week. The first four contestants eliminated from the show say choosing different songs may have kept them on the show.

During a conference call with the media on Friday, here's what they had to say:

Paul Kim: " I wish I had had my first top choice of songs that I wanted to do, because I was really prepared to just blow that one out the water."

Amy Krebs:"I think, unfortunately, I wasn’t as tuned into the fact that I did a lot of up-tempo songs during the Hollywood week, so I chose a ballad based on that. Unfortunately, America didn’t get to see those up-tempos, which kind of went with the whole personality thing. I think if I would have clicked into that a little bit more I would have chosen something that was up-tempo for sure."

Nicole Tranquilo: "I’m not sure. I definitely have no regrets about what I sang. I thought that the song I sang was definitely me and my style. It definitely did fit my voice, I thought. Then again, it would have been nice to maybe sing a different song and see how maybe it would have turned out."

Rudy Cardenas: "You know what? I guess I have been getting a little heat about picking that song, but I just wanted to come out and sing a really fun song that people would really enjoy. I knew I was going first, and I just wanted to grab the attention of the American public and say, “Watch this show. We really can sing.” I thought it showed my range, and I just really wanted to have a good time with it."
