Brandon Rogers has been eliminated from American Idol, yet Sanjaya Malakar remains in the competition after weeks of being ripped apart by the judges. Why is Sanjaya still in the competition? Here are the top five reasons Sanjaya may be hair to stay.1. Viewers want to see what his hair will look like next week.
2. The mischievous website, Vote For The Worst, is encouraging Idol fans to "make an even funnier show by helping the amusing antagonists stick around."
3. People feel bad for Sanjaya when the judges laugh at him, put him down, and give him "compliments" on his hair.
4. Teenage girls think he's hot.
5. Viewers actually think he's a great singer?
Whatever the reason Sanjaya Malakar is still getting votes, he is either going to be one tough, determined teen when he leaves the show -- or a depressed young man with shattered dreams.
On a happier note, Sanjaya and the rest of the Idol contestants will be singing songs from the 1960s British pop invasion next week.

Of course I feel bad for Sanjaya. I have been a fan from the begging and I still am, but I thought it was his turn to go last night. When I saw the bottom 3 was Phil, Brandon and Sanjaya, I said it is so Sanjaya leaving and when they said Brandon, I was so shocked. I am really sad to see Brandon go. I also think people vote for Jaya for his hair. I am still a fan, but I thought he should of went this week. I feel so bad for Brandon. We did not get to see him sing one last time on tv on american idol stage.
One thing this young man has had on this show is some of the most amount of exposure outside of Antonella Barber – and he’s completely dressed…
I like the kid, I hope he fights to stay in the show a while longer. He’s been like The Little Engine That Could. Chin up Sanjaya, remember “I think I can, I think I can.
Apart from a mass epidemic of tone-deafness in American viewers, there can be no other explaination… Sanjaya Malakar is proof positive that pitty trumps talent.
What’s truly sad is the injustice to those contestants who have found themselves victim to this viewer imposed pitty party and we can only hope that sensibilty prevails before someone who is truly talented falls prey to it.
Of course many have offered that the “teen vote” is what’s saving him week after week. However, to those who have reccomended this is the case, another question is raised since Sanjaya Malakar blatently effeminant mannersism couldn’t possibly appeal to anything other than a very specific demographic.
So is it talent that’s kept him on the show? Clearly not.
Are male homosexual teens flooding the phone lines every week? Somehow I doubt it.
It’s pitty. Too bad that pity hasn’t been extended to those who have been robbed of their chance to participate futher because of it.

Least talented contestant on the show this year. He may be a nice kid but his continued presence makes me no longer want to watch American Idol. It is unfair to the true talents who keep getting booted off each week.
true, he’s not the best, but definitely not the worst from the remaining 11 AI finalists. we will still see him in april. enough of this true talent nonsense, please. most of the true talents do not take the AI path because they would have easily been discovered by the industry already.
I believe in Sanjaya. He has a good head on his shoulders and can win this if he tries. he is cute though. And has good hair.
Okay, for one thing. Brandon forgot his lines, he needed to go. Haley should of been bottom two, just for that reason. Lets face it, you wouldnt get pass Hollywood if you forgot your lines. Its a NO NO people.
Sanjaya is a good singer. If you listen to his mp3, the kid is remarkable. I wasnt a major fan until I heard that recording. Actually, Melinda does not have such a hot recording…

Sanjaya Malakar should not be in American Idol. Brandon was by far a better singer and I thought that Sundance blew him out of the water the week before singing Pearl Jam. I think that the homos think that Sanjaya is the next Micheal Jackson or something but he is no where close.

i think it is totally unfair that the judges r akways making fun of sanjaya. he is a good singer he just needs some confidence. i believe in him and i dont just vote 4 him bcuz of his hair. i thin k the judges are bieng really unfair.

Sanjaya is entertaining! I think this week was his best performance yet! He can sing, just needs more experience and confidence. AND he knows all his lines! Go Sanjaya!!!!

Guys and Gals, this isnt about how cute a guy may be; this is a talent show, of which he obviously has none. Now maybe he should model or star in a teeny bob show but thats it. You fans of his are screwing the ones who really deserve to be there – whether they know their lines or not. Sanjaya has a good voice that could improve with training (and a few more years on him), but he’s not going to win American idol. That much is obvious. So many people seem to be critical of him, but I’d have to ask them this… why aren’t YOU on American Idol, huh?
