Asia is the winner of The Search for the Next Doll. The teenage mom from Mount Vernon, New York beat contestants Chelsea and Melissa on the show's final episode Tuesday night. The judges agreed that Asia was the best overall performer, even though she wasn't the best vocalist. Asia is now an official member of the hit pop group Pussycat Dolls. She performed with the group for the first time during the finale.
Interestingly, Asia received the least number of votes when I polled readers about who should win The Search for the Next Doll.

AlthougH I really enjoyed Chelsea and Melissa’s performances, I think Asia was the best person to win. Would they really pick someone who had the vocals to replace their lead singer Nicole? They were looking for a back-up person who could shake what they had onstage and Asia proved that she coudl be that person.

I’m so happy someone like her won, i could see she wanted it so much and she is the one that needed it. Anyone who really knows talent can see she’s upbeat, strong,sexy and i had fun watching her.
I didn’t like Asia at all. They talk about being “sassy and classy” but she’s neither. She thinks she’s Christina Aguilera by the way she does her vocals and how she holds the mic with her fingers flailing about. It’s true that they wouldn’t have someone with powerful vocals that can overshadow those of Nicole (i.e. Chelsea or Melissa). I just hope her backup-dancer contract only lasts one year.
What were the judges thinking! The only finalist with a voice and an incredibly unique look and gorgeous with it was Chelsea. You don’t need them Chelsea…you’ve got what it takes to make it on your own. The other two were absolutely boring – Asia will not attract much of a fan base.

Big Mistake Robin (aka China)…why would you put a girl in a group who admittedly doesn’t like to be around other girls… because she doesn’t get along wth them and always gets into fights..that makes total sense… I do believe Asia is a performer, but i thought the show was started to possibly find someone to to give credibility to the PCD’s…i guess that was my mistake…at least ALL the Spice Girls had a chance to sing!!

The most talented person definitely overshadowed the rest of the competition in the finale. There are also intangibles of being in a group, such as a willingness to help others when needed. Chelsea would not have made it as far as she did if Asia had not helped her with her dancing. I personally was more impressed with Asia’s stage presence than Mellisa’s.
Asia is fierce and hot. She can move and people don’t like her because she’s strong and has her own identity. Not because she has a child she’s not a good role model, that’s ignorant. Goooooo Asia.
I really thought MELISSA was going to take it…she had all the star qualitys…the looks…the voice…and the girl can dance…I believe they did not choose her because she was a spitten image of NICOLE…
I’m glad Asia is the winner. I believe she is her own person and I’m glad that she stood up for herself. Having a baby shouldn’t stop anyone from achieving their dreams. So therefore, I know she’ll be a great role model. On the other hand, I really didn’t like how Melissa S. bad mouthing and teasing Asia throughout the whole show. And guess what Melissa S.? What it comes down to is the PCD search was looking for a backup dancer and not a star. Melissa R. has more dignity and class than Asia. How does Asia expect to be in a girl group if she can’t and won’t get along with them?? She can try to fake sing as long as she can, but people will figure it out soon enough. Good luck PCD. You’re gonna need it.

I am so delighted Asia won, she indeed is a great performer and works very hard to be the best she can be. I had to watch this with my kids and ended up rooting for all the girls but all in all, Asia is really a STAR performer, she really did show you she is a natural. THAT is what makes her a star, her natural approach.

Personally, I really wanted Chelsea to win, but I do think Chelsea has way TOO much talent, looks and sophistication for a group like the PCD’s. With her ingrecible voice, her stunning looks and her extremely sweet and pleasing personality she will go very far on her own.

You should stop passing judgments on Asia being a teenage mother. Unlike you, she is strong enough to keep her baby. Having sex is teenagers’ favorite pastime in the U.S. That show is pure sex promotion, and you are all victims of greedy media.
I liked Asia and I’m glad she won. Chelsea was the best singer and I feel she will be more successful as a solo artist and therefore has a great future ahead of her. I saw the casting call for season 2 on PCD’s website so I wonder if Asia’s job is temporary or are some of the dolls leaving the group one by one. Personally I can easily see Nicole going solo but Asia does not have the voice to replace her.

Asia is NOT a role model for anyone. She is now a teenage mother that will never see her daughter. How responsible is that? How can she say she’s doing it for her daughter, I think not, she’s doing it for herself and no one else! Asia’s daughter will not remember her being a PCD, but will remember Grandma being there and not mom! Good for Grandma for taking on Asia’s responsibility as a parent, we are to be there for our children, not worry about fame and money.

I am very pleased that Asia won. Although I was rooting for Chelsea personally, I was happy to see that the more adult and experienced Asia won over Melissa R. Melissa R. proved to be nothing more than an immature, two-faced ditz who had a big head literally and physically – even though, yeah, she can dance and sing (kind of). And let’s face it, she got cocky and she lost focus. Asia never lost sight of the competition or her determination to win for her daughter. Asia never had to bring someone else down to pull herself up, in fact, she helped Chelsea with her dancing. I totally beleive that Asia should not have won. I would think that the PCD would want to have a likable person in their group, which Asia is not. She is not a team player at all. I was hoping the Chelsea would win, but I hope this has opened some doors for her.

As far as bringing her child into the picture, what about all the other celebrities(including actors,singers,tv personalities)who have to work hard. Many of them have children. I don’t see that many people being outraged over Kelly Rippa on Regis and Kelly, who is an everyday working celebrity mom of 2-4 children! You seem very disillusioned and eager to paint an ugly picture of Asia. I think I know why though…..
Also, keep in mind that many celebrities do put in much time, effort, and energy into their crafts, but they also have readily access to travel with private jets, exclusive first class flying on any airline, etc.

Asia should have won because if you listened to robin at the end, she wanted the person who has grown the most and could handle all aspects and still perform. Well in case you forgot who was the one who won the commercial because she knew how to talk, shoot a commercial on the first try where the other 2 girls had about 10-20 takes. So if I wanted to choose a winner I would choose someone who can speak correctly without the producers giving me cue cards or have to sing it just to make a commercial . Where I did like Chelsea face it she can”t dance on the same level and Mellisa was fake has vampire teeth like the judge said “A deer in headlights. I really see how sad a lot of people are. So, what the person you wanted did not win. If your eyes was open and you watched the performance, as I did,Asia was the mature individual. She had one break down while going through PMS…she attempted to help Chelsea when Melissa didn’t. I feel they all have unique talent, but Asia, rocked the house. Asia deserved to win. If you look at the current Dolls and their creator, Robin, the “trashy” motif is fitting. Chelsea just did not fit in, with the image. Asia and Melissa, exhibited the trashy “edge,” that Chelsea could not, no matter how she evolved, week, over week. If Ron Fair is as good as he thinks he is, he will market Chelsea’s talents in a more sophisticated direction, where she belongs. The ironic thing with this competition is that it blows the doors off the sophmoric American (so-called) Idol. Any one of the PSD contestants, were better performers, than those wannabes on Idol.

chelsea stood out to me the whole show. i think if she were in the mix of the PCDs it would take too much attention off her and she’s the one i would want to see. and i think a group like that would take some of her own style away. i would have like to see her win but i know she has potential to make it big herself.
I am glad Asia won. Her vocals may not have been as strong as Chelsea and Melissa’s but her singing was not bad. She is beautiful inside and out, a great dancer, sexy and most of all a teamplayer. You can’t be catty working with a bunch of women. She will be a great role model, eventhough she is a young and single mother, she showed that you can still pursue your dreams. Asia you go girl!!

Asia won and that is the best choice. I really likde Melissa R. up until the last episode. For her to bad talk Melissa S. as soon as she left was phony like Asia called it. Then for Melissa to bring Asia’s daughter into it was when she really lost my vote. Now she can just go on and be the doctors her parents want her to be. All of the finalists had decent talent, but Chelsea, Mariella and Asia stuck out for being “exceptional”. Neither of the Melissa’s danced, sang or looked as good as they thought they did.

I am disappointed that Asia won. She is nice-looking , and a good dancer, but her attitude is very “funky” and unprofessional. I have no problem with someone defending themselves, or having confidence, but Asia has to much “divatude” , for her to be just starting out. Also, that fingerfluttering on the microphone is annoying, plus her facial expressions remind me of Grace Jones in one of her movies. She looks like she is going to fight tigers and bears or something. She would be good on the wrestling circuit. My vote was for Chelsea, she is just plain cute, and she could sing. She could improve on dancing as time with one. Melissa was my next choice because she could sing and dance, and she was beautiful, but I wondered like some of you, if they didn’t pick her because she resembles Nicole, and of course they wouldn’t want any one upstaging her.
She shouldnt have won…even though Chelsea couldnt dance all that well she was still better…she never gave up and that was what should have let her win…and Asia couldnt sing…well she could but she wanted to sound too much like the other singers.

Very disappointing. Asia is a nice,hardworking girl, and she really needed to win and is talented, but the truth is that what happened between her and Melissa R. the night before finale was crucial. I think Melissa R. should have just ignore whatever comment Asia made and not get into arguing or asking her all the crap she did. Melissa was going to be the winner, but she was not wise. I dont see why everyone is making such a huge deal on Asia winning. All 3 of them deserved it. My overall vote was on Chelsea but I didnt care who won, becuase no matter whos up there doing it, all 3 of them would have done an amazing job. You put a lot on the line when you helped Chelsea with the dance (that in itself showed character). I watched Melissa R. purposely try to pick a fight with Asia. Some would have been disqualified for smacking some sense into that spoiled brat. Asia defended herself. ALWAYS stand up for yourself, Asia. This should prove to Melissa that she can’t have everything she wants. So you have a baby, another person to love. The only difference between you and most American girls and sex is that you have living proof. Most women are working moms nowdays. It usually takes at least 2 incomes to live decently in America, there are very few stay-at-home moms. So you’re not doing 9-5 in an office or serving fast-food out of a window or another traditional job, but you are making the most of being a beautiful, talented, strong, and courageous person. I think the PCD chose the right girl, Asia outshine Chelsea and Melissa R., Melissa R. chose to sing her song just like Nicole, and besides that Asia could dance. How many can say that Asia acted out first, I don’t think you seen the same show as I did. AS I recall Melissa r. deliberately tried to get Asia upset, b/c she knew how to push her buttons, she cussed first, and then told her what to do about her child that was not her business to comment on her child. As far as her sacrificing her child, she did the right thing by trying to make something out of her life and trying to make sure she doesn’t have to struggle it is hard for a single mother to raise a child.

I can tell a lot of the hating comments made are from some very young immature people. Coming from a single mom working full time and in school part time, you have to make sacrafices for your children. You strecth yourself thin! Asia is young and so is her daughter, now is the best time. By the time her daughter is able to long for and miss mom she’ll be well established and more able to juggle the life. From the beginning of the show she had a goal and worked her butt off to achieve it. She did it and I couldn’t be more happy for her as a person. Yes, her father is half black/half philipino, making her no matter what Black. Does that make a difference to you all leaving negative comments i don’t know, but give her credit she was the only one who was consistent in her performance. The girl is a natural and has a raw talent that can and will be developed. At some point we all have some growing up to do. Hell, she’s 18. How many 18 yr olds out there step up to the plate to make the choices and sacrafices she has this far?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe PCD is a “group” and with Asia’s attitude problem and numerous displays of not being a team player, how is this a good choice? I believe this one to be ‘chosen’ a looong way back to have a ‘politically correct’ group. Sadly, many individuals, (myself included) stated they will no longer watch this show because it is not ‘true’ reality and the best person did not win. Clearly everyone would not have agreed on any decision, and regardless the true judges based their decision on overall talent. It has nothing to do with anyone have a child. That’s no ones business, we’re always so quick to judge another. There are many women in this industry that we see everyday that have children so what makes Asia that much different?

I’m also disappointed!!! First of all, I think Melissa S. should’ve be the winner.
