Big Brother 8 Comes to An End

Wednesday September 19, 2007
Dick's win on Big Brother last night confirmed that no matter how many friendships are formed and no matter how many enemies are made, in the end, Big Brother is just a game. The best player should win -- even if he offended, ticked off, or annoyed almost everyone in the house.

With a vote of 5 to 2, Dick Donato defeated his less-loathed daughter Daniele to win the $500,000 prize. Even America's player Eric was instructed to vote for the "evel" one.

Speaking of America's player, it was finally revealed that Eric had been playing the game America's way. The houseguests were shocked to see footage of Eric when he was asked to vote Dustin and Amber out, put mustard on Jen's shirt, and all of the other memorable things he did in the house. It's too bad we didn't get to hear more from the houseguests when they found out about the twist. How does Amber feel now that she knows viewers wanted her out of the house? Was she surprised to learn that she hadn't become America's sobbing sweetheart?

There are so many unanswered questions! At least Julie Chen interviewed Dick and Danielle on the CBS Early Show this morning. Julie didn't ask half of the questions I wanted answers to (like, will Dick share the money with Danielle or what?), but she did ask the reunited father and daughter about their relationship as it stands now.

"This is a stepping stone to getting some normalcy in the relationship," Dick said. "I've earned a lot of respect for Danielle...it really, really changed my perspective on the woman that Danielle is."

Danielle told Julie "It doesn't change the past, but [the relationship] changed a lot."

In a continuation of the Early Show interview at CBSnews.com, Julie also asked Danielle about her relationship with Nick. Will they be a couple now that the show is over? "I can neither confirm or deny," Danielle said.

Then Dick took it upon himself to reveal that Danielle and Nick were on the phone all night -- and that Danielle's boyfriend has already moved out of their apartment. Danielle jumped in to say that her (ex?) had always planned to move back in with his parents when their lease was up.

"Honestly, I don't know what's going to happen," she said. " We're just going to have to wait and see."
