Sunday Best Takes off on Tuesdays

Tuesday October 9, 2007

It might be Tuesday, but BET will bring out its Sunday Best tonight.  Sunday Best, the network's new gospel singing competition, is the search for the next gospel star. Here's a quick rundown:

The network recently scoured the country to find 20 semi-finalists.  The contestants will face off each week until five finalists remain.  At that final stage of the competition, viewers will be invited to vote for their favorites. The top singer will be revealed during a live finale on Tuesday, December 4th.  The winner will earn the title of Sunday Best and receive a prize package that includes a recording contract.

Sunday Best is hosted by gospel superstar Kirk Franklin, who is excited about this opportunity to attract even more fans to gospel music. In a recent conversation with Kirk, he pointed out that some of music's biggest stars started out singing in church.  It's safe to say Sunday Best will shine the spotlight on some of the country's most talented undiscovered singers.

The Sunday Best judges are gospel duo Mary Mary and gospel great BeBe Winans.  The show airs Tuesday nights at 8pm ET/PT.
