Bravo is heading to Manhattan for a spin-off of the hit reality series The Real Housewives of Orange County. Are you ready for The Real Housewives of New York City?
According to Bravo, "The series will feature an elite and powerful set of New York socialites as they juggle their careers and home lives with busy calendars packed with charity fund-raising galas, the social whirl of the Hamptons, and interviews for elite private schools."
The five "housewives" featured on the series are high-powered career woman Alex McCord, single socialite Bethenny Frenkel, businesswoman/photographer Jill Zarin, real-life Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, and successful entrepreneur Ramona Singer.
The Real Housewives of New York City will premiere on Tuesday, March 4 at 11 pm.

Where’s the Black elite woman. I know we are scarce on the West Coast but in New York City there are a few of us. I am truly disappointed that on the House Wives of New York City there wouldn’t be a woman of color.

Can’t believe this……..I doubt people desire to be like the rude people of New York. If you want a real show, come down to Texas and see the real charm and why everyone, including the New Yorkers want to move here. We are real, exciting and beautiful!

I saw the “preview show” today for this new show…it looks awful. These NY women are not intelligent, attractive, or the least bit amusing to watch. What a boring, cold life these hideous women lead. I loved the OC housewives…these others just plain suck I have no idea who would watch this.

I truly disliked all of them. There was nothing appealing about them at all. None of them seemed real. Bethany is just a reality tv whore. She was runner up on Martha’s Stewart’s Apprentice. I think what is different about this spinoff…is that they all appear to hate everyone. No one is actually friends.

I agree with 8,9,10,11. I love NY City but the housewives do not do NY any justice. I loved the OC housewives. The worst I previewed on NY wives the most annoying is Alex. I cannot believe she was an actress and a model. Very disappointed.

Are these the most self absorbed, selfish, pety, boring and just plain snobby women you’ve ever seen grace our television screens? Luanne gives no apologies for being privleged, who the heck asked her for one? She lives in a closet year round so she can spend the summer in the Hamptons? She bosses her poor maid around like the woman is trash. She’s embarrassed to hang out with Ramona (who wouldn’t be) but she hangs out with Jill a loud mouth spoiled brat married to a man who could careless about her daughter and most likely her, that’s why she hangs out with a gay guy. Alex and her husband are just plain FREAKS they’re creepy and they’re showoffs. The day my husband picked out my dress is the day buy a potato sack to embarass him. Ramona, lol, what else to say about that wannabe. She’s the only one who is entertaining because she’s so ridiculous, but her husband is nice and her daughter is a riot. I don’t mind Bethanny, I couldn’t remember where I saw her before and don’t remember if I even liked her on the MS show, I believe I did, but I do like her, but she needs to dump the chump, he’s not interested.

I think all of these comments are extremely judgemental on a show that is obviously edited for television… a.k.a … entertainment… these new women are a bit pretenious and self absorbed but who isn’t from time to time… maybe these woman have an abundant amount of money in their lives that it just consumes them and defines them. yes, it’s gross but i think these women are extremely honest because and they look real and not filled w/ botox and plastic surgery fake boobies. and they are mean bitches because they don’t hide and speak their minds… they’re the woman you love to hate and i think it’s funny and gross to watch. it’s entertaining as long as you don’t take them seriously because they are full of themselves.

I agree with (37), although LuAnne seems to be my favorite out of all of them. Jill just wanted her daughter to lose weight that’s why she sent her to “detox” as she kept calling it, then played it off like she was going for her “arthritis”. When the girl got home, the first thing she said was how much weight the girl lost, yeah that’s caring about her arthritis. Yes, her husband is definitely the money end of that marriage, he’s so detached. I agree that’s why the Gay Friend (not sure he’s really gay, he’s a bit over flaming-I think he plays the part to get to do things Jill’s money affords him to do) Ramona is over the top immature, her dtr is more mature than she is. Mario will surely be leaving her crazy ass for someone younger and less dramatic. He looks like a swinger from the ’70’s. Plus her eyes drive me crazy the way she opens them causing the whites to show, that’s just freaky. Alex and her freckled to hell husband are just wierd. They remind me of a brother and sister that got married instead of a real couple. They met during a dating service so that should tell you something. $ca-ching$ She snapped him up before anyone else could and then proceeded to have two children to seal the deal. I think he would take one up the wazoo if given the chance. Their constant compliments to each other is sickening! At one point after blowing five figures shopping, the man asks for a kiss. Damn right she should kiss him, he just spent MY entire year’s salary on 23 pieces of clothing! I didn’t care for her comment about never living in the suburbs again, the face she made pissed me off! Bethanny shouldn’t even be on this show, she’s not a housewife! You can tell she’s trying her hardest to get that boyfriend of hers to tie the knot, she can’t even get him to move in. She drove me insane at that charity for his sister, constantly fishing for compliments! She reminds me of a Valerie Harper knock off! I agree, she’s just a self promoter and reality whore like someone said earlier. I’d rather watch Sex and the City, at least those gals got a long and didn’t stab each other in the back as they kissed each other hello. They actually made me want the NY life.
For those of you criticizing us for taking this show too seriously and hating on it – I don’t think anyone is taking this show seriously and I’m sure that everyone who has left a comment understands that this show is for entertainment purposes – The reason we are complaining is because the show IS NOT ENTERTAINING. It is boring, the women are annoying and not fun to watch. Both the Orange County Women and NY Women are materialistic, self-absorbed and out-of-touch with the real world – However, Orange County is fun to watch because the women are so out there and crazy – I find it amazing that they couldn’t find more attractive and interesting people in all of NYC (BTW – that Alex chick and her husband give me the heebie jeebies).
Why is Bravo producing such a crappy show like Housewives of NY? The OC show wasn’t bad, but this is unwatchable! Yes, we all agree that these women are old hags with too much money and too much time on their hands. It’s interesting for about 5 minutes, but after that, enough is enough! I love Bravo and have been an avid watcher for years, but now I’m finding myself, and my friends, avoiding the channel for something more interesting. Come on Bravo, get with it!

I didnt see the first season, RHW of OC and maybe that is why I dont think this new season is that bad. I like it. I would have to agree with everyone that all of th women are very unattractive, but they are older and I think that is the message and point of this season. The only thing that really bothers me is Alex’s hair and also how hard that couple tries to fit in and be elite. I am going to keep watching it and try to find the old season of RHW of OC! RH of NYC – Where do I start. UGLY women – Ramona has not class with that accent of hers; Alex and Simon are the biggest snobs with Johan and Francois – what American names their kids Johan and Francois – Jill, she’s just an uptight busy body; Luann – what does she do – go out with kids to bars and leaves her own kids home to be watched by a live-in maid; last but not least Bethanny – no talent, Reality show loser and now her boyfriend is going to dump her – he probably doesn’t want his entire life broadcast on TV. It would be nice to see some women of color on the show. As for the current cast, I’m annoyed with most of them. The woman and her husband who have the kids with goofy names, gimme a break. Get over yourselves. Blondie, get yourself a decent hair stylist and dentist. As for her husband, love the thong babe. Is that a metro thing or are you closeted? Either way, I find both of you irritating. I didn’t think I was going to like Jill, but she appeals the most to me. She calls it as she sees it. Ramona’s husband seems like a decent guy and the daughter has a good head on her shoulder. Ramona on the other hand, I’m indifferent about. Although LuAnn is pretty, I don’t see a whole lot of substance. The remaining cast is pretty unremarkable. I like the concept of the show, but I would have liked to see some different casting. I get a little tired of hearing people whine and boast. This is like the Real World for the 40+ crowd. Some people just don’t grow up.
Yes the woman on the real house wives of NY are not attractive, but I differ from the earlier comments about its entertainment value. I find the characters funny, and Ramona’s daughter cracks me up with her comments. My favorite characters is a toss up between Luann and Jill. As far as whether to bring back the woman of the OC, I found them irritating so happy to see them go away.
I think one reason the previous show, housewives of the OC, was better was that the kids were older. they got into trouble and it was funny.
& the OC moms were younger looking, while the NY moms look older, and have much younger kids. The husbands are also kind of gross. Jills husband looks like he’s in the mafia, luannes husband is really old and she appears to be a golddigger (but she’s my favorite housewife), bethenny’s bf was actually kind of cute and ramonas husband is pretty good looking (and a tennis pro), but then their is alex’s husband. Ewww! First of all, what is up with Luann’s voice (I refuse to call her “Countess” because after all she only married into money and the title and she’s waaaay too snobby about it)??!! It sounds like she’s been smoking a pack or two a day for the last thirty years with that deep manly rasp, that is definitely not natural. Secondly, Alex doesn’t really bother me all that much like most of the other women think of her. Yes she’s pretentious, but ironically not snobby. Sure she likes to talk about the opera, Francois and the violin, and how she speaks like a million languages, but especially when she’s around the other women she tends to smile, listen, and act fairly normal. Bethenney is another one of the more “normal” women, just look at her apartment. But what bothers me about her is that she acts like all the other women are snobby for always wanting the attention and notariety, when she is constantly working for all the EXACT same things! And she acts like she is so normal and the rest are a bunch of crazies, but never really looks at her own dysfunctional life running away from marriages, with a boyfriend who barely even speaks, on a manhunt for a baby. I think she secretly envies all the other women’s lives because they have husbands and children. Jill is the “connector” of the group, i.e. the spotlight grabbing bitch who likes to be the center of attention through “helping” people. I don’t really have anything against Jill, she’s a pretty normal woman who just so happens to have a gagillion dollars in her bank account. But I’d be willing to bet she’d run over a few people just to be on top. Just how it was so catty of her to throw a fit after not being invited to Ramona’s stupid cooking party. Get over it! So what if you’re not invited somewhere, you’re not the most elite person in the world, not even in the top 10, or top 100, people don’t always have to think of you when planning an event, you even said yourself you and Ramona weren’t that great of friends, only “tennis” friends. And Ramona is kind of a bitch,like when she was joking about her friend being a stripper and then when her friend joked back saying that Ramona danced with her clothes off she got all uptight saying “I don’t like to joke like that it’s not nice”. Well then don’t call your friend a stipper bitch! Anyways, calm down and try not to open your eyes so widely anymore, I’m afraid they’re about to pop.
Wow, I had girlfriends like this when I was in my teens maybe early 20’s. I don’t have friends like this anymore. Like most of the comments about this show, I doubt if these women like each other a lot. I see a lot of insecurity in these women. Sad, because they say money cannot buy you happiness and this is a great example. I read their interviews and most sad they wouldn’t trade their lives for anything. I watched a NYC marathon last weekend, and could not believe what I was seeing. I don’t know were to start, well let start with Alex and Simon. First the house, it looks like a section 8 apartment in any city in america. Come on now, air condition units hanging out the window, no central AC, damn. Inside the house is as bad or worst then some section 8. The boys could use a hair cut,especially if there plan to get in a “Good School”. Alex the dress Simon brought was cute, but not worth 10,000 dollars. He should have went to Macy, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, or hell JC Penneys, and borught a 200 dollars dress, stopped at an up scale hair salon, and spent 300 dollars on a hair cut and dye job, and took the other 9,500 dollars, and got a couple of veneers. Oh! what the hell, go for it, and get a smile makeover. I am sure Jill has connections. A good NYC Cosmetic Dentist should be able to hook-you for about 40K. Just think that just three maybe four outfits.
Jill is cool, and Ally is pretty, but she could lose a little weight, she should try working out and watch what she eats. LuAnn is just full of her self. It is obvious that these women are not TRUE friends. I think that the Orange County housewives was much more tolerable due to the fact that we really felt the connection, be it good or bad, between the women.
Hopefully we only have to tolerate the New York cast for 1 season. I think Dallas, San Diego, Florida, or even Washington DC would provide an interesting cast.

I just want to add my own thoughts because I like the show, it makes me laugh, or cringe or root for one over the other. I love NYC and Long Island, so I hope the second session will show more sights. I like LuAnne the most, Ramona the least…I believe manners is the reason why. Bethany is not a housewife, so I thought she would be one by the end of the show? (I guess she did too.) Jill is loud and prying in a good way and she is generous. Alex and Simon are definitely different
P.S. Being sick with Breast Cancer and laid up in bed was how I started to watch the show. I’m glad it was on.
I love this show! The NYC one.
I now live in rural Oregon but lived in Newport Beach for many years until it bored the hell out of me so I know people like those in the Orange County series. It’s a pretty fair depiction of the women there. Not all but many compete with their designer labels and trophy wives are common. 85 IQ but a nice body and lots of cosmetic surgery. I swear I knew women who could barely smile because of it.
Most are just boring.
A lot of men marry the most beautiful women they can afford and many of the women marry the richest men they can attract.
Truthfully, the OC women weren’t even close to being part of the super rich and they weren’t at all interesting. At least to me.
I don’t know how wealthy the NYC ladies are but I do find them more entertaining then the California women.
On a scale of 10 I give Bethany a 12 for her honesty and her sense of humor even if she isn’t a housewife.
Jill gets an 9 just because she reminds me of an old OC friend and I just like her.
Ramona is an 8 because she’s so outrageous and it’s entertaining.
LuAnn gets a 6 because she hasn’t figured out yet that there is no monarchy in either France or the US. Count LuAnn my ass.
And Alex? Where do I start? She her husband Simon (who tarnishes the usually very manly persona we usually attribute to Aussie men)are just idiots.

I find the show entertaining & the characters real.
Jill is incredibly dumb and coarse, married to a rich husband – who inherited a business. The both of them out to dinner, with nothing interesting to say, like two dopes. Needs her friend to help set the table & is challenged when trying to figure out where everyone should sit. How stupid can a person be?
Luann tries desperately to stay in good graces with her ancient husband, although she does have a brain. Ditto her children – making sure they impress their father. The privileged little white boy entertaining with the break-dancing was hilarious. Exactly when or where will he be doing that out in the world? She sould have coached them more to at least fake enthusiasm with the Statue of Liberty trip. The old man was disappointed because the kids couldn’t care less.
The big nut is Ramona, whirling around the dance floor with her dress waist high, eyes rolling in her head. Something is obviously NOT happening in her bedroom if she needs to expose herself like that. Can she ever wear anything the appropriate length and with sleeves?
Alex & Simon are self-proclaimed social climbers – at least they admit it. Why else would someone spend $10,000 on an animal print dress & live in a dirty, run down house? Maybe Simon should call the paparazzi in advance to alert them to watch for another animal printed outfit. That way he’ll have his chance to really “fight them off” on the way to the opera. And by the way, the expression is “Hear the opera” not, ‘Let’s go see some opera.” That child needs to be disciplined or perhaps medicated, stabbing someone’s food – call in the shrink please. They were not very impressed with the french-act routine at the upper crust school either.

Watching this show is alot of fun. Only thing is I do not think they represent New York house wifes. I have a group opf friends, we are all from Brooklyn NY. Some of us married, some single, some of us moves to Florida, we get together every hcance we get, we all know each orther over twelve years. Some of us got money, some of us are married into money, some of us are just plain broke. We are very different, but I think we represent the tipical house wifes of NY..

I’ve never watched the show, but I just saw them on TV and every single one of these women seems skanky, self-centered and I rarely ever use the u-word, but THEY ARE SO UGLY! Was that a prerequisite of being on the show? There’s just something odd-looking about each one of them. I guess that’s not true of the “Countess” except for her immense size. Weird. I don’t care much for any of the reality shows on TV, but I found myself actually enjoying “The Housewives of New York”. I think it takes a lot of courage to show ones character flaws so clearly; I hope they will be well compensated.

I have been “A” list in NYC back in the day when Diana Ross,Tony Bennett,Johnny Mathis and yes even Peggy Lee – all of the great ones performed in the great hotels. Fire Island was becoming “The” place and The Hamptons were hot but all together different.
We were an interesting group with interesting relationships and situations. We were critical and maybe bitchy with-in but very protective of our clique. We still are as we’re getting Social Security. None of us would have considered talking to a camera and we could have made mega$ with info about each other!!

I love the real housewives of oc, atlanta, and nyc. The nyc housewives are my favorite, especially since I’m from nyc. I hope they will bring in more women of color. That should add even more spice to the show.
I want to give Jill a shake…. The countess is to emerged in her self gratification to realize that she has contributed into breaking up what once was a solid friendship, or so we thought. The countess puts her self on such a high pedestal, leaving no room for error in her mind. I wouldn’t pay for her surfing lesson either!!!, nor should she expect anyone else too. My heart goes out to Bethany who deserves a better class of friend, I love her dry sense of humor and never take her to literally lighten up girls…and be less catty!!!
Hey, Bethany… be carefull with Kelly. Kelly has esquisophrenia, she was having a manic episode, her disorderly way of talking is called berboreic speach. The dificult aspect of this condition is that this individuals somebody or something beacomes their object of obcesion and she can harm you without being aware and wanting to. As Sonya said you girls should have a mental specialist to look over her.

After watching last nite’s show , Kelly finally showed her true color’s She’s a pyscho Bitch from hell & need’s help so bad it aint funny . Ok Bethnney is hormonal That happen’s when your preg. The so called countess singing Money Cant Buy You Love ooo good grief lady get a clue ffs! Make’s me wanna ” kick you i the ass ! Ms know it all .Romona renewing her vow’s after only 17 years of marriage , Make’s me wonder what will happen on her 18th Anniversary . Alex finally showed she can get away from simon & have some one on one with the girl’s not glued to the hip’s with simon! WTG simon for not going with the girl’s & giving Alex some space it’s what a woman need’s now & then ! Alex has shown she can stick up for herself on these women . Poor sonya being stuck with Kelly , I felt bad for her dealing with this phycho ! Congrat’s Bethenny on being preg. & gettin married . Sorry your father died tho . Jill what happen to you ? Now i,m waiting for next next week’s show when her & the hubby show up on the girl’s get away . I love the show ! But someone need’s to show some of these girl’s what life is really about .
