Notes on the Big Brother Premiere

Wednesday February 13, 2008
Missed the first episode of Big Brother? What were you thinking? We got to meet the new contestants and Julie revealed the "Til Death Do You Part' twist to the houseguests. (For this season's twist, the players are paired up with a 'soulmate' who they will have to play the game with, face eliminations with, and even share a bed with.) The couples are:

By the way, there are a few things you should know about some of the houseguests.

Sharon and Jacob are exes who were surprised to see each other in the BB house. Turns out they were madly in love -- until Jacob cheated on Sharon. Watching Sharon's reaction to Jacob's presence in the house, you can tell the anger is still very much there. Now they have to live together, work together, share a bed... Poor Sharon!

Then there's Ryan (teamed up with Allison) and Jen (teamed up with Parker). These two are secretly a couple who live together on the outside. They came into the game thinking they were going to have a secret advantage as they pretend not to know each other -- but what they didn't know was that they would be paired up with other people in the house. Jealousy is already rearing its ugly head as Ryan watches Jen with Parker. I love it!

Another couple who stood out on the first episode is Sheila and Adam. Not because they know each other outside the house or anything. But because Sheila is absolutely DISGUSTED by her so-called soulmate. She thinks he's "white and pasty," "not her type," and has already cried tears over being paired up with him. (CBS claims the couples were paired up based on their personality profiles.) To Adam's embarrassment, Sheila has been very vocal about how much she is NOT attracted to him. It didn't help the situation when he called her Ma. (She is the oldest person in the house.)

But Sheila and Adam may be evicted anyway by Jen and Parker, who were the winners of the first competition. Jen and Parker must decide which couple to send home, and Jen has already commented that she may go after Sheila and Adam because of all the "negativity." We'll find out who goes home tonight!
