American Idol Thoughts: Pass the Kleenex!

Friday February 29, 2008
So many tears were shed during last night's American Idol elimination episode. The contestants cried. I cried. Kleenex should have been this week's sponsor!

How touching was it when Alexandrea Lushington was eliminated and David Archuleta sobbed as he watched her perform her final song? Was there a love connection between these two that we didn't know about? Or maybe they're just best buds. When Alexandrea went over to hug David after the song was over, I couldn't take it anymore!

Just when I had dried my tears from that moment, Alaina Whitaker was told she was going home. The season's first big shocker! Alaina, who was a judges' favorite last week, certainly didn't see that one coming. She sobbed after Ryan made the announcement and said she couldn't sing the final song. With the support of the crowd and the female contestants, she made it through the performance.

Jason Yeager and Robbie Carrico were also eliminated during the episode. Thank goodness their eliminations were less emotional because I'm all cried out -- until next week.

I never actually cried, but it was touching and did bring tears to my eyes. They would have been tears of joy had Amanda and Katy been eliminated instead of those two very sweet girls.

David beat out Alexandrea for Star Search jr. 5 years ago—-nice that your plugged into this since your blogging about it.

David was emotional because they have known each other since they both competed in Star Search when they were about 11 years old.
