Mario Shines on Macho Monday

Tuesday March 18, 2008

Is Mario the one to beat on the new season of Dancing With the Stars? The R&B singer and his partner Karina Smirnoff danced their way to the top of the leaderboard when the show's male celebrities faced off on "Macho Monday," the first Dancing With the Stars 6 performance show.  Even though the judges felt that Mario's footwork needed improvement, he earned three eights -- much more respectable numbers than some of the other scores we were seeing last night.  Take Adam Corolla and Julianne Hough for example.  The radio host and the two-time champ received a total score of 15.  And let's just say that with Adam as her partner,  Julianne will have to get used to those numbers.

At the end of the night, the most promising male celebrities seemed to be Mario  and football star Jason Taylor.  The handsome athlete had the ladies swooning -- and his moves weren't that bad either. He and his partner Edyta Sliwinska earned a score of 22 for their Fox Trot. Actors Cristian de la Fuente and Steve Guttenberg gave decent performances --there might be hope for those two.   But not even an elaborate magic trick could make magician Penn Gillette appear to be a great dancer this season.  In fact, Penn might disappear from the competition next week.

So, which male contestant are you rooting for so far?

We loved Mario thought he did great! Jason was good also. We are looking for a 1st time winner, so those two will be the one’s we vote for as far as the men. Yamaguchi for the women….unfortuneately our Julianne doesn’t have a good partner..
