Battle of the American Idol Davids

Wednesday March 26, 2008
OK, so I have two favorite guys in the American Idol competition right now -- and they're both named David. The name might be all these two have in common. One is a sugary-sweet teen singer who makes ya just want to hug him. The other is an edgy, 25-year-old rocker who makes you shut up and listen when he rocks the stage. Despite their differences, they are competing in the same music competition -- and it looks like they could both make it all the way! Let's compare the Davids who are battling it out for the American Idol title.

The Backgrounds

  • High school junior David Archuleta, who once competed on Star Search, performs with a choir group and plays the piano in his hometown of Murray, Utah.
  • With college behind him, David Cook, 25, was rocking out in Tulsa, Oklahoma before auditioning for Idol. The guitar-playing performer wanted to be a rock star since he was a little boy.

The Egos

  • David Archuleta seems bashful and almost shy. Somehow, it seems as if the attention hasn't gotten to his head!
  • Simon Cowell one called David Cook smug. We're not sure if we'd go that far, but he's certainly a confident man who knows he's good.

The Music

  • David Archuleta hasn't found his music identity just yet. And that's OK -- he's only 17. But we predict that David A. will be molded into a pop music idol in no time.
  • Guitar-playing rocker David Cook can turn any song into a rock music masterpiece. He is the type of performer who could turn rock haters into rock lovers!

So, who's your favorite American Idol David? David Archuleta or David Cook? Which one has what it takes to win American Idol? Vote in the poll below.
