Marlee and Fabian Leave 'Dancing With the Stars' -- And Mario and Karina Land In the Bottom Two!

Wednesday April 23, 2008

Deaf actress Marlee Matlin and her partner Fabian Sanchez are the latest couple eliminated from Dancing With the Stars! They didn't receive enough viewer votes to keep dancing next week, but Marlee is a winner in my book considering that I couldn't pull off half of her on-beat dance moves -- even with perfect hearing.

In her parting words, Marlee said "All I can say is thank you to the judges, I have the utmost respect for you. And I want to thank the magnificent Fabian for giving me the most beautiful art of dance in my life."

Marlee's elimination is sad and all, but  I'm more upset about the fact that Mario and Karina landed in the bottom two!

I thought Mario and Karina had the best performance on Monday night -- even though their raunchy rumba had judge Len Goodman comparing Karina to a "strumpet" and Mario to a "gigolo."  (Was I the only one who thought their impressive performance was worthy of like three Tivo rewinds?)

Moving on, I can't write about Tuesday night's elimination show without mentioning Derek and Shannon, who showed their not-so-pleasant side in their behind the scenes video footage.  The rumored couple went off on the judges for critiquing them so harshly on Monday night.  Shannon was in tears because she couldn't believe Carrie-Ann said she couldn't dance. And her usually-calm partner Derek was furious that the other couples got away with technical mistakes, while Shannon was criticized for not having enough hip action.  "Are you kidding me?" Derek said angrily.

When Shannon and Derek found out they were the first couple saved by fans, they apologized to the judges and blamed their angry outbursts from the night before on their "passion" for the competition. Suuure, guys!  We're just happy we got a taste of what you really say when the cameras are off!
