The America's Got Talent Semifinals Begin Tonight

Tuesday September 1, 2009

The America's Got Talent semifinals begin tonight, which means we're one step closer to finding out which act will win $1 million this year. As always, there's a colorful mix of finalists still in the running -- from basketball dunking entertainers to an opera singer. While we didn't discover America's answer to Susan Boyle this season, there are some praise-worthy performers  in the bunch who are definitely worth rooting for.  Here's a quick reminder of the remaining Got Talent finalists:

  • Acrodunk, Houston, Texas (Basketball Dunking Entertainers)
  • Arcadian Broad, Orlando, Florida (Young Dancer)
  • Drew Thomas Magic, Orlando, Florida (Illusionist)
  • Fab 5, Morgan, Utah (Power Tap Dancers)
  • FootworKINGz, Chicago, Illinois (Dance Ensemble)
  • Grandma Lee, Jacksonville, Florida (Comedian)
  • Hairo Torres, Grants Pass, Oregon (Breakdancer)
  • Jeffrey Ou, Carrollton, Texas (Pianist)
  • Kevin Skinner, Mayfield, Kentucky (Country Singer/Guitarist)
  • Lawrence Beamen, Walnut Creek, California (Singer)
  • Mario & Jenny, Las Vegas, Nevada (Variety Duo)
  • Paradizo Dance, Brooklyn, New York (Acrobatic Dance Group)
  • The Texas Tenors, Houston, Texas (Singing Group)
  • Tony Hoard, New Castle, Indiana (Canine Flying Disc Team)
  • The Voices of Glory, Highland, New York (Family of Singers)
  • Barbara Padilla, Houston, Texas (Opera Singer)
  • Drew Stevyns, Sykesville, Maryland (Singer & Guitarist)
  • The EriAm Sisters, Seattle, Washington (Singing Group)
  • Erik and Rickie, Seattle, Washington (Young Ballroom Dancers)
  • Recycled Percussion, Goffstown, New Hampshire (Band)

If the finalists aren't interesting enough to make us watch this week, NBC is treating us to a performance by celebrity judge David Hasselhoff during Wednesday night's results show.  (Whether we're cheering for his performance or laughing at his attempt, we predict that the Hoff will entertain.)
