Read an update about why Angelea was disqualified.>
The finale of America's Next Top Model All Stars included a shocking twist.
The three models still in the running to become America's next top model
(Angelea, Allison and Lisa) had photo shoots for a Cover Girl commercial and competed in a runway show that included an underwater modeling element.
But just when the judges were to begin their deliberations, it was announced that Angelea Preston had been disqualified from the competition and either Allison or Lisa would be crowned America's Next Top Model All Star.
So why was Angelea disqualified from the ANTM competition?
Other reality competitions have seen contenders disqualified for having an unreported conflict of interest or already being under contract.
But this season of America's Next Top Model featured a number of models who already have modeling contracts, so that seems unlikely.
According to the most prevalent rumors and whispering of insider gossips, the real reason Angelea was disqualified is because she revealed (on Facebook) who the final three models were before the results had aired.
In fact, it is obvious that the show did re-shoot the finale in Los Angeles, which (considering the cost, etc) it seems they would only do if they really had to. Like if they had to alter the results in some way.
Which leads me to believe the other rumor going around: That Angelea was originally chosen as the winner of America's Next Top Model All Stars, but lost the position after violating her confidentiality agreement. Then the other two finalists re-shot the finale with Lisa D'Amato taking home the title. Read more about the finale.
CW released this official statement:
"After production wrapped on the current cycle of America's Next Top Model, we learned information that made Angelea ineligible and she was subsequently disqualified from the competition. As a result, new scenes were filmed to address this for the audience during the finale."
What do you think? Should Angelea have been disqualified? Was it fair? Does it make Lisa's win seem less authentic? Comment below or take the poll on the Reality TV Forum.
