Why Is Dancing With the Stars TV's No. 1 Show?
Wednesday June 15, 2005
Who would have thought that a show about C-list celebrities competing in a ballroom dancing competition would become the No. 1 show on television?
Dancing With the Stars was the most watched program last week, and I think I have figured out why viewers like me are hooked to the show. I love Dancing With the Stars for the same reason I loved the movie Dirty Dancing. It was so much fun to watch Frances "Baby" Houseman transform from awkward to amazing on the dance floor. I rooted for her to pull off her big performance at the Sheldrake hotel, just like I am rooting for underdog Kelly Monaco to wow the judges tonight. Lucky for Kelly, I don't think her dance routine includes a big lift at the end.
