Hurricanes Wilma Hits as the The Real World Tapes in Key West
Monday October 24, 2005
I can't help but wonder what the roommates of the Real World: Key West are doing on a day like today. As you may know, the next season of MTV's hit show is being filmed in Key West. And Hurricane Wilma arrived in the Florida city last night, bringing more drama to the area than Real Worlders ever could. In September, there was a rumor that the cast was evacuated to West Palm Beach when Hurricane Rita hit the Florida Keys. There's no word yet on how the show is dealing with Hurricane Wilma. In addition to the hurricane, the producers of the show have been facing a storm of controversy lately.
Just last week, they were brought to court by a couple living next door to the Real World's Key West mansion. The neighbors asked that the filming next door be stopped, claiming lights used for the production of the show were too bright and interfered with their family's activities. A judge ruled in favor of Bunim-Murray Productions, allowing taping to continue.
