How Can Anyone Really Lose on The Biggest Loser?
Wednesday October 26, 2005
I admit that I have a short attention span when it comes to The Biggest Loser. When the show airs on Tuesday nights, I usually spend most of the hour channel surfing to see what else is on. But I committed to watching most of last night's episode and I am glad I did. I couldn't help thinking -- how can anyone really lose on The Biggest Loser?
Sure, the show's ultimate winner wins $250,000, but those contestants who are eliminated from the show are also winners if they lose even one pound during their experience. Take Pete, for example. He was cut during last night's episode, but he went home 83 pounds lighter. When he signed up for the show, he said his goal item was a new white suit -- that's what he wore when he reunited with his wife. Since competing on the Biggest Loser, Pete has continued to drop the pounds and he is now living a healthy lifestyle. These rewards are way more important than prize money.
