The Next ABC Bachelor Is A Prince -- Really

Tuesday May 16, 2006
The bachelorettes who are filming the upcoming season of The Bachelor have literally found their prince. ABC has announced that the new Bachelor is Prince Lorenzo Borghese. I hadn't heard of the Borghese family, but after reading the announcement, I did a little digging online and found out that they are considered to be royalty in Italy.

As for Lorenzo, ABC describes him as a cosmetics entrepreneur. But they didn't mention that his cosmetics line is for dogs, not people. Maybe canine cosmetics didn't sound sexy enough. Prince Lorenzo's company, which is called Royal Treatment, has a website that I'm sure will be flooded with traffic after ABC's announcement. Visit the website here.

Prince Lorenzo's season of The Bachelor -- which was filmed in Rome, by the way -- will make its debut on ABC this fall. Photo courtesy of ABC.

Dog products? If he is really a prince, why start a line of dog products? He must love animals.

(4) A disgusted viewer says:

What a ROYALLY PATHETIC attempt to raise your own profile and profits. I can’t imagine the pathetic girl who will fall “in love” with this loser prince.

(5) Daryl says:

I think I saw this A-HOLE on QVC selling his stinky doggy care products…the Borghese family is probably trying to disown this embarrassment right now.

(6) celophane man says:

Talk about a sell out! This guy is clearly only on the show to pitch his “stinky” products. he is not in it for love. Every rose has its thorn. This guy is a pathetic transparent cheesy american self promoter…does he even speak italian!!????

(14) Kate says:

Why are these bachelors always good “financial” catches … the heir to the wine throne, the aspiring actor with a successful actor brother, a doctor, now the “prince” …. will we ever see the high school gym teacher or the grocery store check out clerk, or the small town cop, or the hair sylist? Are the women you ultimately choose so shallow that they need the illusion of a man who is “financially” successful in order to commit to the bachelor process? Even if they don’t know who the man is going into this, I’m sure they believe it will be a great financial catch, because they always are. The men are never your everyday Joe who is struggling like the majority of American people are today.

(15) sara says:

I don’t know what is wrong with you people but I went to college with lorenzo and he was one of the nicest, down-to-earth guys. I was never friends with him so I have no reason to lie. I only knew him because our school was very small. You guys sound like a bunch of jealous fools!

May 24, 2006 at 3:17 pm
(16) Tammy says:

I agree with Kate. I want to see a fat, not-so-financially-stable bachelor. A real person who has no stylist, and some real bachlorettes.

May 24, 2006 at 9:16 pm
(17) Heidi says:

How tall is he…anyone know??

May 29, 2006 at 12:46 pm

His grandmother was Princess Marcella Borghese, founder of Borghese cosmetics.
His mother, Princess Amanda Borghese & his brother Prince Scipone Borghese sell bath & body products on HSN.

(23) Waterlily says:

anyone works to make a living is respectable, no matter what they do, what they sell (of course, I don’t mean drugs or porn movies….), don’t understand why so many people have negative perception about him, pet business has huge market. Lot of men are in the toilette paper or female products business, would you mind if he is one of the best of that industry?

August 28, 2006 at 12:42 pm
(24) Pat says:

Looking forward to the series. They may be royal but they are working royals and making a contribution. We have many celebs that do very little work, demand a lot of money and attention and the public falls all over them.

(25) Friend of animals and Borghese products! says:

I am an ex m/up artist and have used the Borghese family’s products (Perlier)for YEARS.(they have been around over 100 years) I had my favorites in the cosmetics line and the fragrance “Borghese”. I also know they are very nice people making a difference. Jealous people can be so NASTY!

September 11, 2006 at 5:28 pm
(26) NON JUDGEMENTAL animal lover says:

I don’t understand such meanness and negativity for another person. I commend him on his decision. A person who chooses their live path for love of a beloved pet is a person with heart, soul and humanity. Too bad we don’t have more like that. He seems nice, is devoted to his cause and is very good looking, If I were younger I would be 1st in line.

October 2, 2006 at 10:36 pm
(27) AnimalPerson says:

Hmmm… Not really sure what type of royalty he WAS considered; however, he will be considered royalty after all the publicity that ABC gave him for his product. If he was a person that truly fell in love it would matter, doubtful that he will though

October 2, 2006 at 11:07 pm
(28) not impressed says:

After watching the first episode, this guy is by far the worst bachelor yet. I will give it to ABC for promoting him as some kind of BS prince. By the way ladies, I’m a prince too, I though everyone was.

October 3, 2006 at 9:53 am
(29) a real Italian woman says:

I am just a little confused, I guess I never heard of him and may need to do a little more research, but how can he be an “Italian Prince” and can’t speak Italian very well — if at all? If you wanted to really have some suave guy to use romantic Rome as the next “Bachelor’s Backdrop”, there are tons of successfulfirst generation Italian/American men who at least can speak the language and even look the part. I am sure Prince Lorenzo is a great guy, he is cute, and of course, the money will always attract gorgeous women, but to portray a handsome Italian Prince, I am a bit thrown off. Is it just me???

(30) Ms. Tigre says:

Erica is a great example of the fact the money can’t buy you poise or class. I live in the neighborhood with Erica and as a matter of fact walk my dog daily by her house. Her dad is a well known plastic surgeon in Houston and a few years back was known for doing most of the implants on topless dancers in town. They mention her as a socialite. So what - she now has a degree from Emory - what has she done with it??? She likes to think that she is better than the other girls but basically was out to marry to maintain her lifestyle. Many people that are “educated’ as Erica likes to think she is speak more than one language. She has had all the advantages, so I find her manners pretty pathetic. The scene where she speaks bad English with an Italian acent was a riot.

(31) Jenny says:

I spent the whole two hours watching the finale. I was so disappointed by Lorenzo’s choice. He seems to be a deep person with a good taste, but he chose Jennifer! This girl cannot even walk right.
