Benji Wins So You Think You Can Dance
So, I guess we think he can dance!
Benji Schwimmer, a 22-year-old dancer from Redlands, CA, received the most viewer votes to win the second season of So You Think You Can Dance. The announcement was made during the show's live finale on Wednesday night. The finale included dance numbers by former contestants, a rap performance by Black Eyed Peas star Fergi, and a videotaped message from Celine Dion.
What does Celine have to do with So You Think You Can Dance? Benji's big prize is a year-long gig dancing in her Las Vegas show. He also gets a $100,000 cash prize and a new car.
But before Benji can enjoy his prizes, he will go out on a national tour with the top 10 finalists. Get the dates here.
Benji made it to the final four along with contestants Travis, Donyelle and Heidi (who happens to be his cousin!). They were all fantastic dancers in what turned out to be a great season of So You Think You Can Dance.

OMG!!!!! I AM SO PISSED HEIDI DIDN’T WIN!!!!!! This reminds me of the quote about Ginger Rogers: “She did everything Fred Astaire did…only backwards and in high heels.” Heidi performed with an excellence unsurpassed by any of the dancers on whom tv wasted its minutes showing. MORE HEIDI!!!! If I had a dance show or a movie, I would instantly cast Heidi. She is phenomenal!!! I AM SO PISSED!!!!
Benji was good… but Travis is the prize. He has everything it takes and I feel he will land a deal and be very successful. GO TRANJI!!!
Dont hate, Benji was very good. He deserved to win just as much as the others.
Way to go Benji. Our family was thrilled that Benji won. Travis is exceptional, but as a total entertainer, Benji couldn’t be beat. He kept the other performers upbeat and the audience went wild every time he performed. Heidi worked hard to do great, but for the girls…. We would have hoped that Allison would have stuck around.

I agree with June and Jack. As a choreographer, dancer for many years,myself, Benji showed charisma and charm that cannot be taught but has to come from within. His entire countenance shown. He truly has a heart when he performs. I am so happy that America could tell as well.
I think it is a shame that Travis, the runner up, never even got to speak after the winner was announced. He is such a professional.
We are so happy that Benji won. He is the reason that we were so dedicated to watching the show. He is such a fabulous entertainer. His spark lit up our whole house!
I started watching from the first night of the show and didn’t miss any. I have never gotten into any of the reality shows before.And I never voted for anything on t.v. But when I saw Benji dance, I had to vote. At the end it was hard because Travis was so equal to Benji. But it was Benji’s story and his heart that kept me voting for him. I think Mia will make sure that Travis goes far. All of the top 10 were good. But Benji stole my heart and never let it go. Way to go Benji!
SO HAPPY IT CAME DOWN TO BENJI AND TRAVIS. I DON’T REALLY CARE BETWEEN THE BOTH OF THEM WHO WON BECAUSE THEY WERE BOTH REALLY GOOD. BOTH OF THEM ARE LIKE WINNERS. TRAVIS IS GOING TO HAVE A BIG CAREER AND ALL THE REST OF THE TOP 4. CONGRADULATIONS BENJI I LOVE YOU!
Benji stole the show from day one. Folks seem to forget that everything they through at Benji, he did and did it well. There was only time I can remember a negative comment. While, Travis had a hard time, jelling with his partners and ballroom dance. I do believe Travis was great; however, I believe Benji was greater still.

i think that ivan and allison should of won bcause they were good and ivan was hot even though he is 18 and i am 14 but he is still cute and i also think that benji was a good dancer and he was good person to watch dancing.

Loved the show and I don’t watch reality tv. I hope that there continues to be an interest in dance because it is such a great way to spend your energy and it takes talent. Maybe there would be less crime if we convinced kids that it was cool to dance. Thanks all of you for your hard work and Benji you are a talented man. Greetings from an old lady in Logan.
BENJI had my heart from day one. In fact, he was the only reason I watched the show - would love him to be on a sitcom. YOU GO BENJI!!!
From the very beginning my childred and I were convinced that Benji would win. His moves, his smiles, his whole attitude is win worthy. For me he was a winner before the finale. My dream was that he and Heidi would have won as a dream-dance-couple!
Benji we LOVE you. You are an amazing dancer and you are way fun to watch! We love travis, but you stole the show with those funny little faces. We know you will go far in your dancing career and hope we can meet you someday!:)
I was pulling for Travis to win. He was much more versatile than Benji, and much better technically. I am a dance teacher(ballet and modern dance). My second choice for winner was Heidi. Benji was my third choice. Personally I didn’t think he was very versatile and his stage presence was so-so….liked Travis’ much better. There’s more to “stage presence” than just smiling a lot!

Puh-leeze! Who didn’t get sick of watching Heidi wiggle around every week? I totally agree that the winner should be Benji, and runner-up Travis. Heidi is a good partner, but never showed anything other than jiggle in her solos. (and she kind of does look like a cabbage patch doll)
benji was definitely the best entertainer on the show and deserved to win. i loved his dancing from day 1 and his story made me vote for him every week. im so happy to hear he has a bright future ahead of him!! nice job benji and good luck w/ ur tour!!
It was really between Donyelle and Benji for me. Donyelle was a beautiful dancer and she had great stage presence. Benji was a great dancer and he had a rare charisma. I would have been really upset if either of them hadn’t won.

Benji has talent, presence, and I always told my daughter that I’d pay to watch him dance! He and Donyelle were a great pair (I was a little disappointed that he didn’t turn to look for her when he won-she certainly can dance and really made Dimitri ‘work’.).
