Singer Jewel has signed on to host the fifth season of Nashville Star, which kicks off on January 11th.

In a press release, Jewel said "I grew up on a ranch in Alaska, and my favorite memories are of sitting around a camp fire with my father and listening to the songs he wrote and sang. It was pure country music, and it has made me a sincere fan of country music ever since...I am so excited to be part of this show."

Season four's cohost, Cowboy Troy, will be back to share hosting duties with Jewel.

Nashville Star is the search for the next big country music singer. The weekly competition show airs on the USA Network.
