When this season's Dancing With the Stars celebrities were announced, Monique Coleman was one of the celebs who had me asking "who the heck is that?" I have never seen High School Musical, the Disney Channel movie she has a role in. And I have a feeling most of the over-18 viewers of Dancing With the Stars had never heard of High School Musical or Monique.

Many of us criticize reality TV competitions for being judged like popularity contests, so who would have thought an actress who was barely on the Hollywood radar would still be in the competition, weeks after a Hollywood movie star (Vivica A. Fox) was eliminated? Monique also outlasted an MTV reality star and a former pop star.

So, what is it about Monique? First of all, she can dance. She's confident without being cocky, and the girl works hard! Now that she is the only female celeb left in the competition, she has the big job of representing for the ladies. She's up against two hearthrobs who dance like pros, a funny talk show host who keeps the show entertaining, and a football legend who has winning moves off the football field. Will she last another week? Either way, Monique is the breakout star of Dancing With The Stars, season three. After the show is over, we will all know her name and hopefully, we will be seeing a lot more of this rising star.
