Idol Producer Comments on Antonella Barba's Naughty Photos

Sunday February 25, 2007
nullWhen EW broke the news about Antonella Barba's scandalous college photos to American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe, this is what the show's head honcho to say:

"We have really good background checks on everybody, and we deal with that every season. It's sad, isn't it, that your best friends are the ones that come forward with information that will go to Smoking Gun or put your photographs on the web?''

Sad indeed. Photos of Antonella partying, posing while going to the bathroom, and allegedly performing a sexual act (which is the most recent development), popped up online last week. Now the big question is, should Antonella be booted off the show? After all, season two's Frenchie Davis was kicked off Idol after the talented singer's topless photos were discovered on an adult website.

It can be argued that Antonella did not pose for money. Unlike Frenchie's photos, the Architecture student's girl-gone-wild moments with friends at Catholic University were leaked without her permission.

We'll see how this one plays out.

Its a singing competition as Simon says so she shouldn’t even have made it to top 12.

I agree. I do not believe she is as talented as any of the other women. I’m shocked she’s made it as far as she has. The show’s called American Idol. The winner should be someone that people can look up to.
