Melinda Doolittle Discusses Her Elimination
Melinda Doolittle talked about her elimination from American Idol during a phone call with reporters today.
When asked why she thinks she was eliminated, Melinda replied "I was up against two amazing contestants They did a fabulous job on Tuesday night."
"I know that I was probably getting a lot of the older vote which is great," she continued. "Sometimes they may not spend a full two hours voting and things like that and that's OK. I feel like personally that I won as far as where I ended up in the competition."
Melinda said she wasn't completely surprised to hear her name. "When [Ryan] called me up front, just by the nature of the show and how it normally goes, I kind of had an idea that it would be me. I was kind of prepared for it and I was just kind of taking deep breaths and kind of ready to go to the next step. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I thought I was going to possibly lose it but it was actually a happy occassion that I made it this far. I'm kind of glad that it turned out that way."

I was really suprised that Melinda was let go since she was the best vocalist of the three. She could sing any type of music. Jordin is next in line she is very good but she was the voted the three lowest a couple of times. Blake is good but I really thought that he was the one to go. Melinda, you are the best and I know you will make it big.

Melinda is truly a great artist. Her rendition of My Funny Valentine early in the competition is one of the greatest performances by any singer — ever! I voted for her almost 20 times this week. Wish she had made the finals.
Seeing my favorite contestent from last season, Elliott Yamin, perform so well on Idol last evening gives me hope that Melinda will soon launch her own recording career. Elliott’s new CD is great. I have little doubt that Melinda will have a fabulous recording career.

What a nice lady she is! Even when she learned about her elimination, she was congratulating other contestants and gave them a warm smile. I’m sure her great career has just been launched.

I also feel like the competition is over. I think I am a sore loser and not as gracious as Melinda. She was my favorite from the beginning, she has a great voice and is the most talented singer that has ever been on American Idol. She sings with an annointing. I think she is truly a wonderful person with amazing talent. I think Nashville was in Las Vegas. I voted. We Okies voted.
Melinda is the greatest vocalist of all the idol contestants this season. I like her personality, I think she is the whole package. It’s a shame she was eliminated. She should have won.
i know Melinda will be a successful singer not only in U.S. but as well as in the whole world. I’m pretty sure that your first album will sell a million recordss…… I’m looking forward to your career….
Melinda is already a star not just to me, but to America as well. I know that everything happens for a reason, and I beleive with all my heart that God has so much in store for her that she wont be able to grasp all the good that is about to happen to her.
They sent the wrong one home, Melinda should have won it, BUT last year Chris D. should have won it, but he is bigger and recorded his own songs instead of what American Idol wanted him to, I think the same will happen for Melinda, she will do great, it was a blessing Chris didn’t win, and I think he sees that now, and the same thing for Melinda.
Melinda should have stayed to the end her sweet honest personality along with her vocals (of course) were awesome. I can’t wait for her first cd to come out. I could care less about watching the finale.

I really feel that Melinda is the winner as this is a singing competition and not a beauty contest. If anyone choose to dispute this why would the winner be given a record deal with one of the world’s top music studios. very upset at the results and also that the public can be so manipulative into only voting for looks. I hope we can be updated with Melinda’s future progress and be happy for her as we are with our last year’s winner in our hearts Elliott Yamin
