Fox has announced that the seventh season of American Idol will premiere on Tuesday, January 15.  And there will be something different when the judges return to find another music superstar. (No, Randy, Paula, and Simon won't be animated.  The photo accompanying this blog post is from their upcoming guest appearance on Family Guy). What's new for American Idol's seventh season is that the contestants will be allowed to play instruments during the Hollywood round.
