American Idol Songwriting Competition Kicks Off Today

Tuesday March 25, 2008
Starting today, songwriters may submit their entries for the second annual American Idol Songwriter Competition, a contest which gives fans the opportunity to write the next American Idol single. Here's how it works: Songwriters enter their songs for consideration at www.americanidol.com. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite songs after the entries are narrowed down to 20. The winning song will be the first single released by David Archuleta...oops, I mean whoever this season's winner turns out to be.

If you plan to enter, here are the dates you need to know:

  • March 25th -- The submission phase begins.
  • March 31st -- The submission phase ends.
  • April 10th -- The online voting phase begins.
  • May 20th -- The winner is announced. The American Idol winner performs the single during the season finale of the show.

HI,

MY NAME IS DEBBIE AKA D-HIPS. I ENTERED THE AMERICAN IDOL SONGWRITER CONTEST. PLEASE GO TO MY PAGE AT www.MYSPACE.COM/DHIPS AND LISTEN TO MY SONG. THE LYRICS DESCRIBE THE JOURNEY THE FINALIST HAD TO TRAVEL. THAT’S WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT THAT WE HONOR AND “REMEMBER THE JOURNEY” THE FINALIST ENDURED JUST TO GET TO THE END OF THE COMPETITION. THAT’S THE NAME OF MY SONG, “REMEMBER THE JOURNEY”. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU OR SOMEONE WOULD LISTEN TO MY SONG AND DON’T JUDGE THE SINGING QUALITY, BUT THE LYRICS WHICH ARE VERY IMPORTANT TO THE CONTESTANTS.

THANKS,

DEBBIE AKA D-HIPS www.MYSPACE.COM/DHIPS
