Fans of reality TV and comic books/graphic novels will enjoy the mash-up of the two mediums in the new series 15 Minutes, which provides graphic biographies of reality TV stars like Kim Kardashian and Honey Boo Boo.
The series is a creation of Bluewater Productions, one of the top publishers of comic books including series like TekWar Chronicles, Wrath of the Titans, Sinbad: Rogue of Mars and Vincent Price Presents.
Bluewater also produces several biographical comic lines including Female Force and Fame. The later series profiles celebrities like Katy Perry and Justin Bieber and has garnered coverage from such news outlets as The Today Show, CNN, The Los Angeles Times and Time magazine.
Now Bluewater has released 15 minutes (the title references an Andy Warhol quote about fame), which premiered with a biography of Kim Kardashian from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The second issue--out November 14, 2012--features the life story of Alana Mitchell, a breakout baby beauty queen from Toddlers and Tiaras who now stars in her own show, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.
Saying, "some of these biographies we do for strictly the entertainment value," 15 Minute publisher Darren G. Davis explained that the Honey Boo Boo issue is "meant to be fun for people and not to educate society."
Meanwhile, the series writer/artist Michael Troy says, "as a pop culture junkie, I jumped at the chance to put my spin on spoon fed America's latest reality obsession Honey Boo Boo."
The 15 Minutes series is available in print exclusively at Comic Flea Market but digital versions are available via iTunes, Nook, Amazon and other online outlets.
