Kim Kardashian's Reality TV Credentials:

Kimberly Noel "Kim" Kardashian (born October 21, 1980) stars in E!'s Keeping Up With the Kardashians with her mother Kim and sisters Khloe and Kourtney.

Kim has also starred in the Kardashians spin-offs Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami which followed the siblings as they opened branches of their clothing boutique in New York and Miami.

Kim Kardashian was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars Season Seven, when she was paired with professional dancer Mark Ballas before being the third couple eliminated.

In addition, Kim has appeared on several other reality shows like America's Next Top Model and The Apprentice. Kim is a producer of The Spin Crowd, a reality show about a New York City public relations firm that moves to Los Angeles.

Kim Kardashian's Family Background:

Kim Kardashian is the daughter of attorney Robert Kardashian and his wife Kris Jenner(née Houghton, previously Kardashian). Raised in Beverly Hills, California, Kim went to preschool with Paris Hilton and later attended Marymount High School.

Kim's father, Robert Kardashian, (best remembered as one of O.J. Simpson's lawyers) was a third generation Armenian American, while Kris Jenner is of Dutch and Scottish descent. In addition to Kim, Robert Kardashian sired three other children with Kris: Kim's two sisters, Kourtney and Khloé, and her brother, Rob. Robert Kardashian died September 2003 of esophagus cancer.

By then, he and Kim's mother had been divorced for more than a decade. In 1991, Kris married Olympic gold medalist Bruce Jenner and the two have two daughters together--Kim's half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Bruce Jenner also has four children from a previous relationship: Kim's stepbrothers Burton, Brandon and Brody Jenner, and her step-sister Casey Jenner.

Kim Kardashian's First Marriage:

In 2000, when Kim Kardashian was 20-years-old, she married a 30-year-old music producer, Damon Thomas, who worked with stars like Pink. The two stayed married for four years, then divorced in 2004. People magazine, later reported that Thomas called Kim a "compulsive shopper."

Kim Kardashian's Early Notoriety:

In February 2007, a sex tape of Kim Kardashian and the R&B singer Ray J surfaced on the internet. Kim sued Vivid Entertainment, but couldn't keep them from distributing the tape (which they allegedly acquired for $1 million). She did reach a settlement, which paid her $5 million for the distribution rights.

Although undoubtedly embarrassing, the release of Kim's sex tape led to a dramatic increase in her celebrity and fame. In December of 2007, Kim posed for Playboy magazine and appeared on the cover.

Kim Kardashian's Charity Work:

Kim Kardashian has been involved with several charities over the years. She was the spokesmodel for Fusion Beauty's 2009 "Kiss Away Poverty", campaign which donated money to the Seven Bar Foundation to fund American women entrepreneurs. She donated half the proceeds from the song she recorded to a cancer foundation and she has lobbied for recognition of the Armenian Genocide.

Kim Kardashian's Second Marriage:

Kim Kardashian married New Jersey Jets professional basketball player Kris Humphries Saturday August 20, 2011 after dating him for less than a year. The wedding was an extravagant affair during which Kim changed outfits five times. The Kardashian-Humphries wedding was featured on a two-part E! documentary Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event that aired in October, 2011.

After 72-days of matrimonial acrimony, Kim filed for divorce from Kris, citing irreconcilable differences. In the wake of the brief marriage, numerous critics, a publicist and Kris himself have all suggested it had been nothing but a publicity stunt, which netted the Kardashians a reported $15 million (from E! for the right to broadcast the wedding). Kim has denied the allegations (and sued her former publicist).

Other Kim Kardashian Controversies:

In 2010, Kim Kardashian was criticized for wearing fur and the animal rights organization, PETA, named her one of the five worst people in terms of supporting the welfare of animals.

In March 2012, Kim and her sisters Kourtney and Khloe were named in a $5 million class action lawsuit against QuickTrim. The weight loss supplement and the Kardashians, who endorse it, stand accused of false and deceptive marketing.

Kim Kardashian's Other Men:

In addition to the men mentioned above, Kim Kardashian has been linked with a number of high profile boyfriends including New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush (who reportedly texted her before her wedding to Kris Humphries, pleading, "I want you back"), Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, Halle Berry's ex Gabriel Aubry and her current heavy, hip-hop star Kanye West.

West sings about Kim in his song "Theraflu": "I admit I fell in love with Kim...'Round the same time she fell in love with him," referencing Kim's soon-to-be ex-husband Kris Humphries. Meanwhile, Kim told Oprah Winfrey in June 2012, "I love that I'm with someone who is a couple years older than me."

Kim Kardashian's Professional Background:

In 2004, Brandy hired Kim as a personal stylist after the pop star's poor fashion sense landed her on a worst-dressed list. That job launched Kardashian's career and notoriety, in more ways than one. First, it led Kim to a full-time job as a stylist and personal shopper for celebrities like Lindsay Lohan. Second, while working for Brandy, Kim started dating Brandy's brother, Ray J (see above).

Two years later, Kim launched the Calabasas, California clothing boutique, Dash, with her sisters Khloé and Kourtney; they later opened Dash boutiques in New York and Miami. In 2011, the three siblings created the Kardashian Kollection, a line for the retail chain, Sears.

Kim got her first acting role on the TV drama, Beyond the Break. In addition to starring on Keeping up With the Kardashians, Kim also went on to appear on multiple scripted TV shows (including CSI: NY, How I met Your Mother, 30 Rock and Drop Dead Diva) and movies (2008's Disaster Movie and 2012's The Marriage Counselor).

Since 2008, Kim Kardashian has had endorsement deals with a number of brands including Bongo Jeans, Carl's Jr., Sugar Factory lollipops, QuickTrim and ShoeDazzle (which she also co-founded and serves as chief fashion stylist). She has created a workout DVD series, Fit In Your Jeans By Friday, launched a Kim Kardashian perfume and created jewelry with Khloé and Kourtney for Virgins, Saints, and Angels. The sisters also co-wrote 2010's autobiographical Kardashian Konfidential.

In 2010 the International Business Times ranked Kim Kardashian as the highest earning Hollywood-based reality star, for bringing in $6 million that year alone. Two years later, Kim was honored as the winner of the 2012 People's Choice Awards for Favorite TV Celebreality Star.
