What is 'Who Do You Think You Are?':
Who Do You Think You Are? is a reality series on NBC that uncovers the family trees of celebrities. The show is based on an award-winning British series of the same name and premiered in the United State on March 5, 2010.
Who Do You Think You Are? offers viewers insight into their favorite celebrities by allowing viewers to observe famous movie stars and musicians as they attempt to uncover who they are by unraveling their family histories. Along the way viewers also learn about critical moments history and visit locations around the world. The show hopes to "expose how the lives of everyone's collective ancestors have shaped our world today."
How Does 'Who Do You Think You Are' Work?:
Each week the show follows a different celebrity on his/her quest to uncover their heritage and trace their family tree. Each season twelve celebrities participate in the adventure.
Unlike reality competitions, there are no judges or challenges. Unlike other reality shows, Who Do You Think You Are does not follow celebrities throughout their days or revolve around (real or created) conflict.
Who Produces 'Who Do You Think You Are'?:
Who Do You Think You Are is produced by Lisa Kudrow, Dan Bucatinsky and their production company, Is or Isn't Entertainment; along with Shed Media U.S.. The British production company Wall to Wall Productions, and creators of the BBC original, Alex Graham, Jennifer O'Connell and Al Edgington also serve as executive producers on the American version.
When Does 'Who Do You Think You Are' Air?:
The third season of Who Do You Think You Are? premieres February 3, 2012 and airs Fridays on NBC 8/7PM Central.
