Tyler Grady auditioned for American Idol's ninth season in Boston. It was his third time trying out. After he sang Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On," Simon said "This is going to be one of those auditions that I will remember.” Randy said, “I liked Tyler. I thought Tyler was very good.”

Tyler believes his style sets him apart from other contestants. Tyler first sang for an audience at an eighth grade talent show and he is now a drummer and the lead singer of a band. He is currently a student at Philadelphia's Temple University.
