The claws and the catwalks

The divas are back, and viewers need not fear that this week would be dull. With a house full of explosive personalities and hostilities brewing between the model hopefuls, tonight’s episode was packed with drama, humor, and fun.

Miss J, the tightrope queen

If there is one thing I didn’t quite expect to see Mrs. J do, it was walk a tightrope in circus attire. Our favorite runway coach walked demurely across the tightrope with grace before explaining to the girls that it was all about posture and balance. This would test their runway talents. We watch the girls attempt to follow suit. Some of the results were laughable.

Melrose vs Monique

There is a feud brewing in the house. It’s Melrose vs Monique, and the claws have come out. Monique even goes so far as to wipe her undies (or was it a bathing suit?) on Melrose’s bed when she was sleeping. Ewwww! Gross!

Monique’s uplifting quote of the night

“All these girls in here are bitches and hoes. That’s all I gotta say.” (I guess she won’t be voted Miss Congeniality.)

Work it, girl!

Miss J shows up for the challenge dressed in an outfit that one could only describe as hideous. Was it made of taffeta? If an 80’s prom dress and a ballet recital costume had a love child, it would look like this dress… Anyway, the girls are given 5 minutes to select dresses and heels. They are also to put on a mask that makes seeing virtually impossible. Their makeshift catwalk is a cracked stone pavement. In heels and with limited vision, they are supposed to work the runway. Melrose came across as a total klutz, tripping repeatedly while A.J. won the challenge for her poise and striking poses.

And the winner is…

A.J. wins the opportunity to model in a Dennis Quaid charity fashion show in Austin Texas. She is told she can choose to girls to take with her. Immediately, she picks Megg, but she hesitates before choosing another girl… just long enough that we get to hear Brooke beg to be picked since Austin is her hometown. No such luck for Brooke. A.J. picks Caridee instead.

What goes around comes around

We’ve all heard the talk that spreading negativity can actually make you physically ill. This weeks’s episode may have helped prove that theory. Our resident diva bitch Monique was sick. The girl was sweating profusely, moaning, and basically looking miserable. She managed to pull it together enough to show up for the photo shoot but ended up bailing out before the pictures were taken because she felt too bad.

The runway from hell

When we think of hell, we think of fire, right? One probably doesn’t conjure images of water… unless you happen to be a model, that is. What if you’re a model dressed in a beautiful evening gown and walking across a thin runway that extends over a swimming pool? If that doesn’t sound intimidating enough, imagine that the runway actually moved under you, rocking back and forth like a living entity that threatened to send you flailing into the water?

Peek-a-boob

The girls give it their best shots as they parade down the mobile runway that extended over the pool. The most memorable moment came in the form of Caridee’s dress sliding down to show her entire breast. Another Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction? If it phased Caridee, she didn’t show it. We felt more sorry for the graceless Eugena who ended up falling awkwardly into the water.

It’s all about balance

In keeping with the theme of balance, final talks with the judges were no exception. Before Tyra and the crew whittled the models from 11 to 10, the girls were told to work the runway while balancing a bowl of fruit on their heads. Jaeda proved she may be able to bounce back from her hairdo depression when she managed to keep the fruit on her head.

The bottom two

The girls in the bottom two were Monique and Eugena. Monique’s sickness coupled with her diva attitude left the judges disappointed. Eugena’s photos all looked dull and lackluster. In the end, Monique was sent home. Melrose looked as if she was ready to pop the cork on a bottle of champagne and party.

Parting words of love from Monique

“This whole time here was honestly a waste.” Monique declared. (Goodbye, Monique. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.)
