This is always my favorite week. Although looking at pictures and hearing her interpretation always leave something to be desired, once Tyras changes are implemented, these ladies always look amazing. Thats why she has that job and I dont! The two Js take the girls to the Ken Pavis salon where the following changes are made:
Ambreal's already short hair is cut down even shorter and shes given the original Halle Berry short/straight do. She owns that hairstyle in her body language. Good call by Tyra. Bianca is pegged for a new weave, preferably honey blond flowing locks, but its discovered that her hair is so damaged that the crew doesnt even want a chemical or new weave put in. Its decided, initially that she will have all of her hair buzzed off with clippers, and if need be, she can use wigs for photo sessions. I must say, even though she did tear up a little bit, when all was said and done, she looked GORGEOUS with the buzz cut, and she looked nice with the honey blond wig. She decided to wear her near-bald head proud. After some tears recalling her mothers words, a woman is nothing without her hair, Bianca pulled up her boot straps and made herself a force to be reckoned with. Even Miss Js (dark hair) teasing didnt slow her down. Go head girl! Sarah was given a short fluffy do similar to Ambreals but with more length. She was worried she would look like her mother. Sounds like a therapy session coming on. Anyhoooo, she looked beautiful when it was over. Much more polished. Kudos to Sarah. Now get on the phone and tell your mother you love her. Chantal got platinum blond extensions and a bang. She looked good, but shes one of the ones youll forget if she doesnt do something spectacular. Lisa went short, curly and natural, and she ROCKED it. Jenah was given extensions and turned into a blond diva. Janet basically had the same hairdo, but she was taken a bit darker. Really brought out her features more. Saleisha had her long weave replaced with a sixties-style page boy weave. Heathers hair was basically just conditioned and straightened. Very nice. Not a lot of change, but enough to make her look more refined. Ebony was another one with hair damaged from the weave. The glue was on her skin and everything. She was given a longer, straighter weave in the end. Looked good. Finally, Victoria, who doesnt seem to want to be there, was given softer highlights and more curl to her long mane.
The ladies are taken to a warehouse where they are told they will have to prepare themselves for a runway show. They have five minutes to find their names on a rack of dresses, get dressed and be back out front. They are being judged on eyes, which should be dramatic, and lip color, which should be the new Cover Girl lip gloss. The photographer for the shoot is Nigel Barker. Sarah says she wants Nigel for herself. She'll have to get in line. To everyone's surprise, and to some's disappointment, Nigel's wife, Crissy Barker, is the makeup artist assisting the shoot. Glad Sarah only said that on the little spy camera. Representing Cover Girl Cosmetics, Brent Poer will oversee the shoot, choosing the winner. The prize is a how-to video uploaded to the Cover Girl site showing how to use their new products.
