Big Brother 9 Recap: Week of April 13

From

Natalie claims she didn’t throw the boys “under the bus, bus.” So she didn’t throw them under a city bus, she just threw them under a metaphorical little bus such as are used for Pre-K kids. That’s much better. Or maybe she threw them under Bon Jovi’s tour bus so the tire tracks on their backs would come from a cooler source.

Natalie flails as she explains that she’s heard things that the boys’ have said about her, also, but she didn’t believe a word because she’s all about trust. They ask what she’s heard and she says Sharon told her that the boys consider her a threat. Way to cement Sharon’s reputation of spreading truthful gossip.

Natalie gives up and tells the boys to just send her home, then. If only it were that easy. Adam says he was hoping she would offer up some kind of justification and apology. And she says she is sorry, and as a mom I recognize the tone of the apology immediately: she’s sorry she got caught. She vows to always be true to the boys, which is impossible at F3, but sadly no one points this out. Ryan tells her that she’s done playing every side, it ends now.

The Jury House - Not the Happiest Place on Earth

Meanwhile, over at the jury house Matt had a birthday, Chelsia misses James, and Josh is still smarting over his eviction - particularly painful as it was orchestrated by Natalie, everyone’s favorite cartoon nemesis. Chelsia doesn’t want to see James walk through the door as it will mean she has to vote to give $500,000 to someone she hates. As we know, it’s James that walks in. Matt is delighted because payback is a bitch. James pops in the DVD and they watch in disgust as Adam wins HOH and in shock as Adam saves James from the initial nomination. Then they see James seal his fate as he loses the POV.

James is bitter that his eviction wasn’t due to himself. He saw how people leaving on a bad note affects those left in the game. He praises Matt and Josh for both leaving with dignity and tells Chelsia her classless exit was the reason he was voted out. He said his eviction was residue of Chelsia. At this she leaves the room in tears.

Orchestrated by Big Brother for drama? I’d put money on it. Completely untrue, if anything he harmed her game far more. But it was awesome to see Chelsia cry like that…so why quibble about facts? Besides, Residue of Chelsia works as a title for some many things from horror movies to porno flicks.

In her room Chelsia sobs, not because James was mean to her when he’s the one who ruined her game. Not because he was a tool to call her out in front of Josh and Matt…she’s crying because she cost him his game and he’s the only person she cared about in the house.

Underneath that tough façade she’s not very different from Natalie.

James follows her smiling and asking what’s wrong. He says he came in as a poor homeless boy with no money, and it’s okay that he still has no money because he fell for a girl on TV. They then collapse in a tangle of tattoos, Mohawk, and residue of Chelsia.

The Eviction Ceremony

Interviews before the upcoming vote reflect the wavering Ryan and Adam have done all week. There are pros and cons to keeping both Natalie and Sharon and they are at an impasse.

They should keep the nominee that can spell impasse.

It’s time for the final speeches. Sharon goes first and she trots out her old standby of she’d like to stay if it’s meant to be. Why not, it has worked so far. Natalie is up next and she thanks Big Brother for the experience of a lifetime. She tells the boys she’s sorry for whatever mistakes she’s made. She begs them to keep her and let her see the mini-table. Julie reminds us that in the event of a tie Sheila will cast the deciding vote. Do you think Natalie gave this enough consideration before her speech? Me either.

Ryan votes to evict Natalie and Adam votes to evict Sharon. It’s a tie. When Natalie hears this her neck snaps as she looks at Sheila, absolutely beseeching her with her eyes. Sheila faces the girls and tells Natalie that she just told all of America and the house that her loyalty was with the boys and she was coming after Sheila next week…and she can’t afford that risk so she has to evict her.

I am going to hell for how very much I enjoyed the look of crushing panic and despair on Natalie’s face as Sheila delivered the fatal blow. It’s been a long time since I’ve cared that much about an outcome of any show. I know it’s evil, and I’m a horrible person, but I have re-watched it several times and it only gets better.

Goodbye, Natalie

Natalie says her goodbyes in a state of shock. After she leaves Adam comments that this was fair but Sheila is livid that the boys forced a tie and put her in the position to break it. She says that it’s fine - with a tone of voice that says it is everything but fine.

Meanwhile Natalie stumbles over to Julie for her exit interview, saying this doesn’t feel right. Long story short Natalie is upset with both of the boys as they promised her she was safe, and she guesses that over playing both sides was her downfall.

The goodbye messages are all over the place. Sharon goes first and refrains from gloating as best she can. Ryan tells her he’s sorry it ended up like this as he wanted to keep her (sounding for all the world like he was her vote to stay, which he didn‘t). Adam tells her he loves her, she’s sweet, but it’s all about game play (sounding as if he didn’t vote for Sharon, which he did). Sheila cries and babbles and says the same thing she always says: sorry had to happen, miss you, blah, blah, blah.
