ELIMINATION #1

Brittany and Maggie are below the yellow line from last week. Dan has two votes. Maggie is seen as the threat by most of the players and with no hugs or kisses, she leaves the ranch to continue playing at home. Outtakes of Maggie at home show that she looks great, has pumped up her confidence level, and even looks a little less evil now that she has lost so much weight. She is down to 172, and vows to keep losing and rock the reunion. Back in her room, Brittany interviews that she feels odd girl out now that the other former Black team members, Bernie and Maggie are gone. Even though they are all for themselves now, she feels no alliance with either Kelly or Ali. Kelly interviews that she was surprised Maggie was voted off instead of Brittany. Dan interviews that the game is every man for himself, and he’s gonna play it that way.

FINALLY, THE MAKEOVERS

Alison meets the contestants at Macys. To stretch the show even further than the first elimination, Alison asks the players what it was like shopping for clothes at their heaviest weight. Ali and Brittany cop to only buying a lot of shoes, which I have experienced, while Roger says that he could only wear custom-made shirts. Dan’s dream is to wear designer jeans that fit properly. Alison tells them that this week’s challenge will be to strut the catwalk for a Prevention Magazine photo shoot, but first they will need makeovers. She’s bringing in the big gun, as in Project Runway’s Tim Gunn. All of the ladies know who he is and fawn over his very existence, but the guys, not so much. They kind of look dumbfounded, although happy a “fashion guru” has been brought in to guide them toward better fashion choices.

Tim assesses everyone before he makes the final decision on their outfits. Kelly walks past him like she’s constipated in a dress he calls “dowdy.” She is offended, but then again, she has to admit she has no sense of style since everything she’s worn over the last few years have been huge, off-the-rack comfort pieces. She takes his advice to heart. I’m just glad she wasn’t crying. Tim chose a beautiful purple dress with a plunging J-Lo neckline for Brittany. She rocked it on the runway, and I want somebody to please tell me what kind of support she was using with it so I can get some. Kelly, who said that she’s never been pampered or made over, looked great with her toned down blonde layer-cut and fitted dress that Tim chose for her. Her confidence even gave her a different walk. Dan was opposed to cutting off his “rocker” locks, but in the end, went for it, letting the stylist give him a Keith Urban-esque shag that suited him just fine. Until he reminded me of Rhys Ifans, of Notting Hill fame. A few more pounds off the face and he is so there. All in all, the makeovers went very well, and during the catwalk various loved ones and friends surprised the players. Of course, Mark cried when he saw his wife. Jay cried when he saw his wife too. The crying brothers didn’t disappoint this week. Roger’s wife was so surprised because she married him at over 300 lbs and this was the thinnest she had ever seen him. I’m thinking she will get to spend that $1K gift card Macy’s is giving each player. Kelly’s mom showed up instead of her boyfriend, but we’ll just assume he had to work. After the photo shoot, they all toasted with what I hope was apple cider.

TIM’S TIP FOR THE GUYS…

Stop wearing your clothes so baggy. Try on a smaller size and see what happens. Please.

TIM’S TIP FOR US GALS…

To make your body look leaner, expose those shoulders and a little cleavage, and pull the eyes down with a nice flowing skirt. Works for me.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge this week involves endurance. Each player must walk a treadmill, suspended 10 ft over water, backward. Last person standing wins a weekend at the Fitness Ridge Resort and Spa in St. George, Utah. They all give it a good go, even Kelly, but in the end, it’s the two re-established players, Mark and Ali that are left to go at it. Ali finally hits the water after one hour and five minutes, leaving Mark the winner.

Jillian takes Brittany, her new BFF aside, and tells her that she doesn’t understand why Brittany isn’t dropping bigger numbers. She decides that she will up the sodium intake for Brittany, but cautions her that it may backfire at the weigh-in. Jillian just feels she is at the end of her rope with Brittany’s metabolism.
