The Biggest Loser Couples Recap - - Episode 8

From Angela Williams, About.com Guest

BACK TO THE GRIND

Finally, the teams go back to the ranch, and the first 1 ½ hours of the show is over. McCain has swept Wisconsin, and Obama is projected to do the same. Clinton is probably PMS’ing right about now. Bob gets the story from the Blue team about their temptations and their workouts. He’s proud of them, but when Dan admits to having two glasses of wine, Bob stares at him in a way I never want any man to stare at me. It was kind of Ted Bundy. Jillian calls her team out for all of their mistakes. Brittany is Pizza Girl, Bernie, “I had a pastry named after me”, and “Never heard from you” Paul. Brittany also cops to one chocolate chip cookie. Maggie and Kelly never waivered, but Paul, who doesn’t exactly admit to everything he ate, knows he is in trouble. Jillian makes them hit the gym and has no mercy. She’s still angry with Paul for ignoring her phone calls. He has the nerve to say he didn’t know it was her calling. She reminds him he didn’t have anyone else calling him constantly, like Paris Hilton, so he should have known it was her.

Quick tip from Jillian this week: Use Zip’N Steam bags for fresh veggies on the go. Just don’t pick them up with your fingers if you’re sharing a bowl with everyone else. Yuck. I am the only once who catches these things?

THE CHALLENGE

Alison meets everyone outside, at night, in the cold. She is dressed warmly. She says that last week, Paul was the Biggest Loser of the Week, so as a prize, he gets a lifetime membership to 24-hour Fitness. Paul weeps. I hope he uses the prize. I’m sure he’ll allow Kelly to be his guest whenever his girlfriend can’t accompany him. He’s such a sweet guy.

The challenge involves jumping over a rotating thing, and then ducking when the top comes down. Jump. Duck. Jump. Duck. Get it? Great. The winner gets to pick two members of the other team to weigh in 24 hrs early, before the last chance workout. As the games begin, it looks easy, but 15 minutes in, the strain starts to show. Roger, who was first out, proposes a draw. Brittany declines on behalf of the Black team. Brittany eventually wins the challenge, and chooses Dan and Roger to weigh in. Not happy that they lost the challenge, Bob says they cannot lose the weigh-in three weeks in a row. Again, the threatening stare. What happened to Bob? I mean, I know it’s a competition, but damn. Roger and Dan are weighed. Roger and Dan have lost 27 lbs. at home between the two of them. Bob is stoked. I am too cause he was scaring me. They decide not to tell the Black team how much they have lost until the weigh-in the next evening.

LAST CHANCE WORKOUT

There’s a lot of screaming, standing on folks and sweating. And that’s just over on Jillian’s end of the gym. She especially digs into Paul for ignoring her, which she will never, ever let him live down. The Blue team, on the other hand, sails through their workout, pretty confident about what they have accomplished.

WEIGH TO GO!

Jillian goes into the weigh-in with less than high hopes. Alison says that Roger and Dan have already set the bar with 27 lbs, which shocks the Black team. Mark has lost 13 lbs. Jay has lost 16 lbs. Their total is 56 lbs, and the Blue team must have lost more than 60 lbs. to avoid elimination. Bernie is surprised he lost only 5 lbs. Pizza Cookie Girl Brittany lost 3 lbs. Maggie lost 6, and Kelly lost 7. Paul, with flashbacks of chicken wings and soda, has lost 5 lbs. Bob whoops and hollers and says that his “Business Squad will win this thing”. He’s getting scarier by the minute. Jay is named the Biggest Loser Player of the Week.

Kelly has lost the most weight on the Black team and cannot be eliminated. That leaves Maggie, Bernie, Brittany or Paul. Back in their room, Paul puts on his original Yellow team shirt, rationalizing that he and Kelly have always stood apart from the other team members. Not a good thing to say out loud. Off in their own corner, Brittany, Bernie and Maggie discuss their options. Brittany says, “so we know who is going home, right?” At the table, the other members of the Black team are hurt when they see Paul in the Yellow shirt and hear his little speech. Maggie tells him that’s a load of bull, and Bernie is appalled he never felt like a part of the Black team. Kelly cries…again… that she isn’t Yellow, she’s Black, and she wishes Paul could understand that. Translation: She’s with Bob now, and never getting back with Paul, so he needs to move on. But I digress. The votes are counted, and Paul is sent back home to Julie, who will know doubt see the whole show before the reunion, and still wonder if Paul is still over Kelly, who he still refers to as his wife. Next week, we get more crying…in the form of brothers Mark and Jay. I can’t wait.
