BET Gets In The Reality TV Game:
While its sister network MTV has been cranking out hit reality TV shows for years, cable channel BET has not been known for its reality programming -- until now. The Black Entertainment Television network has been adding some excellent reality shows to its schedule lately. Here are some BET reality shows you oughta know about.
1) DMX: Soul of Man:
Fans know DMX for his hard-hitting rhymes and his headline-making legal problems. Now the reality show DMX: Soul of A Man shows us another side of the rapper -- the private side. DMX moves to a quiet town called Carefree, Arizona. But the rapper, who has been described as a tortured soul, is far from being carefree.
DMX: Soul Of A Man airs Wednesdays at 9:30 pm ET/PT.
2) Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is:
Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is chronicles the life of rising R&B singer Keyshia Cole. Cameras are there as Keyshia, who was in and out of foster care during her childhood, finally gets a taste of the good life. But the aftertaste of her bitter past still lingers.
Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is airs Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT.
3) Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown:
During the first season of Lil Kim: Countdown to Lockdown, cameras followed rapper Lil' Kim as she prepared to go to prison to serve a one-year sentence for perjury. If fans only knew Lil' Kim's sexy rapstress image, Countdown to Lockdown changed that. We met the hardworking, tough-yet-sensitive Kimberly Jones.
4) Next Level: Vince Young:
On the upcoming reality show Next Level: Vince Young, viewers will see 2006's Number 3 overall draft pick Vince Young as he deals with his new fame and fortune. Viewers will get a glimpse of the Texas native's life on and off the field.
Next Level: Vince Young premieres on Wednesday, October 4th.
5) Committed: The Christies:
NBA star Doug Christie and his wife Jacki will star in a new reality show on BET's adult-focused channel BETJ this fall. BET says "as married couples go, there are perhaps none who live, love and manage life in the pro sports limelight like Doug and Jackie Christie.
The premiere date for Committed: The Christies has not been announced yet.
