Celebrity Apprentice Recap - - Episode Nine

From Katie Lee

The Ultimate Competitor

Piers Morgan and Lennox Lewis returned to the war room and Piers received some good-natured ribbing from the other guys about throwing Lennox 'under the bus' in the Boardroom. Lennox and the others acknowledged that Piers has a very competitive streak and that winning is the most important thing to him.

The Flea?

Stephen Baldwin, as winning PM for the last task, got $20,000 to give to his charity, the Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. He called his mother, who's a 12 year breast cancer survivor, and we learned that his nickname is 'The Flea.' Hmmm, now that's a back story we'd like to hear, Mama Baldwin!

I'll Lead - No, Wait, You Lead!

The remaining seven 'celebrities' met Trump and his entourage at Hearst Towers and as Trump was beginning to talk about the next task, Omarosa whispered to her team about wanting to be Project Manager. Trump then declared that the PM who loses would likely be fired. As if on cue, Omarosa began to frantically whisper about wanting Tito Ortiz to be PM instead. Way to step up, Omarosa!

Redbook, Featuring Dial

This week's task required the teams to create a 4 page photo layout inside Redbook magazine to spotlight Dial's latest product, Dial's Yogurt Natural Body Wash. The ads would be judged by both Redbook and Dial executives based on creativity, brand integration and overall message.

Leaders and Judges

George returned yet again to step in for the MIA Don, Jr. Meanwhile, Tito Ortiz gave in to Omarosa's manipulations and agreed to lead Empresario, while Carol Alt revealed that she had to lead Hydra because she had been featured on Redbook's cover 5 times and to not be PM would make people think she was a 'chump.'

Targeting the Demographics

After meeting with Redbook and Dial executives, Hydra decided to do an ad that would feature '4 great moments in a woman's life' - pictures depicting her after work, with a child and her husband/lover. Meanwhile, Empresario decided to feature Trace Adkins in their ad based on the Redbook editor's comments that Redbook readers are primarily from 'middle America' and middle America apparently loves country stars like Trace.

Too Many Hats?

Piers wanted Carol to be the star in their ad campaign, but Carol was hesitant, thinking that she would be wearing too many hats as both PM and the 'star.' In the end, Carol decided to step up to the challenge, stating that she would rather go down fighting than running from things. Hear that, Omarosa?

Cowboys and. . .?

Empresario's ad seemed to feature a cowboys theme but no one seemed able to articulate a cohesive 'story' for it all. Stephen Baldwin directed the ad campaign and at times, it seemed like he was also being PM, as Tito's leadership style is best described as 'hands off.'

Let's Show Some Skin!

Omarosa decided that their ad campaign needed a little 'boost' for the women so she decided that there should be a picture of Trace Adkins, shirtless and with a guitar, flanked by two shirtless male models. Trace was initially horrified by the idea, stating that he had 'the tan of a vampire' but in the end, stepped up for his team as usual.

Astute Judge of Character

Tito Ortiz may be the quiet, laidback type (which is interesting considering his claim to fame) but he revealed that he was a very astute judge of character when he had to mediate an argument between Omarosa and Stephen. Stephen thought the shirtless photograph was too risqué and didn't want to use it, while Omarosa thought it was perfect for Redbook's demographics. Tito commented that Omarosa was a 'diva [who was] controlling and bossy.' Meanwhile, Tito assessed Stephen as 'a verbal bully, [who was] overbearing.' That's 2 for 2, Tito!

Presentations

Piers Morgan presented Hydra's ad, which featured Carol in a bathtub, with a baby and in bed with a hot male model, nibbling her shoulder. Meanwhile, a nervous Tito Ortiz presented for Empresario and he had slight missteps, which Stephen and Omarosa tried to pave over as best as they could.

Assessments

The executives allegedly loved both ads, but also found weaknesses in both. They thought Hydra's picture of Carol in bed with the male model a little 'too much' for the magazine. As for Empresario's ad, they thought that the picture showing a beautiful model in a desert (to serve as a metaphor for dry skin) didn't quite work, and that there seemed to be a lack of a consistent message in the ad overall.
