Abrasive, Arrogant. . .and the Winner

In the Boardroom to find out the results, Gene Simmons was quickly taken to task by Ivanka, where she told him the Pedigree executive found him abrasive and she agreed. Gene managed to rein in some of his ego and even removed his sunglasses (which have been affixed to his face since this show premiered) to utter an apology. After viewing both commercials, Trump declared that the Pedigree executive found Hydra's commercial, featuring Lennox Lewis playing with an adorable looking bulldog, to be the winner.

Twenty Grand and a National Spot

Gene Simmons, as winning PM, will get $20,000 to donate to his charity (which has not yet been revealed to us). And Hydra's ad will be featured by Pedigree at the Westminster Dog Show in June, which means their commercial gets a national spot.

We Don't Need No Star Power!

Once again, Empresario is rebuked for failing to capitalize on their celebrity status. Terry Lundgren wanted to know why they didn't feature one of their well-known celebrities, like actress Marilu Henner, in their commercial like Hydra featured Lennox Lewis. Nely Galan countered that they did use Marilu - they used her voice in the voice-overs. Trump quickly injected that no one would recognize Marilu's voice, and furthermore, he thought the voice-overs were terrible.

Where's Bela Karolyi When You Need Him?

Nely Galan selected Nadia Comaneci to join her in the Boardroom, and despite Trump heavily hinting at it, she bypassed picking Marilu Henner, and instead went with model, Carol Alt. Everyone expressed surprise at Carol's selection and Trump told Carol that 'unless something crazy happens, you're not getting fired tonight.' Which meant it came down to Nely and Nadia. Neither women were very impressive at fighting for their spot, but Nadia seemed particularly weak. And we hate to admit it, but Trump was right when he stated that as an Olympic champion, she had a lot of leadership over herself, but not others. Repeatedly, Nadia refused to seize on the opening Trump, Terry Lundgren or Ivanka gave her. She even stated that when she doesn’t have something specific to do, she takes a step back. It was like she was waiting for a coach’s instructions That approach certainly worked for her during her remarkable Olympic career, but in the Boardroom, it got her fired.
