Celebrity Apprentice Recap - - Episode Eight

From Katie Lee

The Devil and Nelson Mandela

In the war room, things are still icy cold between Piers Morgan (Judge on ‘America’s Got Talent’) and Omarosa after last week’s ugly arguments. When Marilu Henner (actress) revealed that Trump had switched her with Omarosa on Team Hydra, Piers remarked with relief, ‘[The switch] is like replacing the Devil with Nelson Mandela.’ Meanwhile, Omarosa crowed about how Trump ‘likes me. He really, really likes me’ because he moved her away from Piers and now she could ‘leave the trash behind.’

Reality Check

Piers, as winning PM on the last task, got to take all the money raised (approximately $65,000) and donate it to his charity, ‘Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.’ He noted that being able to make that kind of a donation to his charity gave him a needed ‘reality check’ about what was important (raising money for charity) particularly after his brutal, drag-down, knock-out fights with Omarosa.

The Kids Are Back

Ivanka and Don, Jr. were both present this week to help Trump on the task.

Going Home Shopping!

This week’s task entailed having each team select a product to debut on QVC, the home shopping network. They would then create, direct and produce a live, 10 minute segment to sell that product to the QVC audience. The team that raised the most money would win.

New Teams, New Leaders

Team Empresario (now consisting of Omarosa, Stephen Baldwin, Trace Adkins and Tito Ortiz) would be headed by Stephen Baldwin. Team Hydra (Piers Morgan, Marilu Henner, Carol Alt and Lennox Lewis) would be headed by Marilu Henner.

God’s Got Better Things to Do

The teams were shown 6 products at QVC headquarters in Pennsylvania. Both teams zoomed in on the LadderKart (a combination of a ladder that could also convert into a cart). During negotiations, the teams decided to just flip a coin for the LadderKart and Stephen (a born-again Christian who now serves as a preacher) said that he prayed to God to let Empresario win the coin toss, which they lost, giving Hydra the LadderKart. Stephen noted that maybe God was telling him it wasn’t meant to be but we think it’s because God’s probably got better things to do.

On-Air Talents

Empresario (deciding to sell an electric sweeper after losing the LadderKart) went with Trace Adkins (country music star) as their on-air talent. He would be paired with Lisa, the QVC host, and Trace and Lisa seemed to have good rapport. Meanwhile, Hydra decided that Marilu would be their on-air seller and she would be paired with QVC host, Rick.

Not a Good Sign

During a meet with QVC host Rick, Marilu accidentally ‘dumped’ him off the LadderKart while they were rehearsing, causing Rick to joking say, ‘Can I be on the other team?’

Eat Your Heart Out, Francis Ford Coppola!

Lennox Lewis (ex-boxer) angled to be the director of the QVC segment, saying (in all seriousness), ‘I’m a former heavyweight champion of the world, but what I really want to do is direct.’ He did get the gig, but none of his teammates seemed particularly impressed with his directorial debut.

Just Gonna Wing it

Stephen decided that Trace didn’t need to rehearse his on-air segment, having the utmost confidence that Trace would be able to pull it out. Both Tito Ortiz (UFC champion) and Omarosa expressed reservations about this but Empresario decided to just let Trace wing it on the air, live.

Opposites

Hydra’s 10 minute segment with Marilu was deemed by Trump and Ivanka (watching from NYC) as ‘very enthusiastic’ and they found that Marilu had a lot of energy and passion for the product. But they also found her energy a little too manic at times, declaring that the segment didn’t seem very organized and that both the host and Marilu talked too much and it could give someone ‘a headache.’ Meanwhile, Empresario’s segment with Trace was declared, ‘calm, relaxed’ and the opposite of Marilu. Trump was particularly impressed by Trace’s idea to have their electric sweeper pick up nuts and bolts as opposed to the more common household debris.

The Winners

Hydra sold approximately $35,000 worth of the LadderKart, while Empresario sold $43,000 worth of the sweepers. Stephen Baldwin, as winning PM, got $20,000 to donate to his charity, The Carol Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund.

Sleepy Boy

When asked by Trump who he should fire, Lennox and Carol both named Marilu because she was the PM. Marilu couldn’t really cite anyone on her team. Piers, however, named Lennox, stating that Lennox wasn’t quite up to task, having fallen asleep on the helicopter ride down to Pennsylvania and acting pretty sluggish throughout the task. Piers deemed Lennox, ‘Sleepy Boy’ which Trump took offense to for some reason.
