We all know him as the handsome landscaping designer on
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. But did you know that Eduardo Xol is also an author whose latest book "
Extreme Entertaining Made Simple" comes out in November?
Eduardo filled me in via email about his exciting work on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and his new book. Here's what he had to say:
What is it like working on a show like Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which changes so many lives?
It’s been a life changing experience. Not many people can say that they are able to do all of the different things we do at the same time. We design, make great TV and change people’s lives. Not only that, but working on the show is also like live interactive theatre. Everyone should try and have a first hand experience!
What's your favorite home makeover so far?
They’ve all been important and unique, but the one that has probably had the most profound effect was a home we did in St. Petersburg, FL for the Dolan family. It had more to do with the experience than the home’s outcome.
Do you and the rest of the crew just have a blast traveling or does it get tiring?
I can’t lie, our travel schedule is grueling. Each shoot is eleven days with travel and we shoot an average of 12 shows per designer in a 10 month period. We’re constantly changing time zones, and we’re living out of our suitcases in some really small towns, but we are truly like a family and make the best out of every moment on the show together. We basically always make our own party!
Tell us about your book "Extreme Entertaining Made Simple." What inspired you to write it? What will we learn from it?
I’ve been wanting to write this book for a while. An event is the best way to encompass all of the senses and I love to entertain. The reader will learn how to take all of the senses into consideration when planning an event and I give great examples on how to do that from design, to menus and recipes to a soundtrack CD that I produced to go along with the book. I’m really proud of it!
How does it feel to be named one of the most beautiful people by People en Espanol?
Who said that about me? I think you’re talking about George Clooney! I’m just a big goofball!!
