June 2012 has a lot of reality shows in store for eager viewers. There are returning favorites and intriguing new series that will premiere this month. Here's your guide to the shows and when they air.
Friday, June 1st: Whale Wars. Airs on Animal Planet Fridays 9PM Eastern. The crew returns to risk their lives by getting between whalers and their intended prey.
Sunday, June 3rd:
- Secret Millionaire airs on ABC, Sundays at 8PM Eastern. More millionaires go undercover and experience life on the other side of the tracks.
- Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition airs on ABC, Sundays at 9PM Eastern. Extreme Makeover:Home Edition may have been canceled earlier this year, but the weight loss edition has returned for a second season.
- Ice Road Truckers on the History Channel Sundays at 9PM Eastern. For the 6th season, the show will follow truckers in both Alaska and Canada's far north. This year unexpected warming makes things even more difficult.
Monday, June 4th:
- Hell’s Kitchen airs on Fox, Mondays 8PM Eastern. The 10th season once again revolves around the tirades of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay as contestants battle in a cooking competition.
- Masterchef airs on Fox, Mondays at 9PM Eastern. Or you could catch the kinder, gentler Ramsay on Masterchef where he and fellow chef judges are more fatherly and less mean-spirited.
- The Real Housewives of New York City Mondays on Bravo at 9PM Eastern. Goodbye Jill Zarin, Alex McCord, Kelly Bensimon and Cindy Barshop and hello Aviva Drescher, Heather Thomson and Carole Radziwill for Season 5.
Tuesday, June 5th:
- Love in the Wild airs Tuesdays on NBC, 9PM Eastern. Returning for a 2nd season is this dating competition that puts singles through adventure challenges while trying to establish romantic relationships.
- The Glee Project returns on Oxygen, airing Tuesdays at 10PM Eastern. Bringing much needed diversity to TV, this talent competition seeks an inspirational youth to appear on Glee.
- Storage Wars airs on A&E Tuesdays 10PM Eastern. Folks bid for the chance to pick through abandoned storage lockers in hopes of finding treasure.
- Kendra on Top airs on WEtv, Tuesdays at 10PM Eastern. This new reality show follows former Playboy model and Girls Next Door star Kendra Wilkinson in her new life as a mom.
Wednesday, June 6th:
- Cajun Pawn Stars. Exploiting the current fascination with Cajuns and pawn stores, the History Channel combined the two for a new reality show, which airs Wednesdays at 9PM Eastern.
Thursday, June 7th:
- The Choice. Featuring celebrity bachelors like Jersey Shore's The Situation, who pick a date on the basis of her voice and words alone, this new Fox show is a mashup of The Dating Game and The Voice. Airs on Fox Thursdays, 9PM Eastern.
- Cajun Justice. Did I mention that Cajuns are hot right now? This new show combines Cajuns and crime as only A&E can. Airs Thursdays at 10PM Eastern.
Friday, June 8th:
- Lives on Fire is OWN's new reality show following four female fire fighters in California. It airs Fridays at 9PM Eastern.
- DC Cupcakes: Takes New York airs on TLC, Friday's at 10PM Eastern. The purveyors of Washington, D.C. based Georgetown Cupcakes descend on New York. Personally attesting to their deliciousness, I predict New York crumbles at their feet.
Saturday, June 9th:
- Real Life: The Musical. Pairing real life amateurs with professionals, OWN helps them put on flash musicals for special occasions (like wedding proposals). Airs on OWN, Saturdays at 10PM Eastern.
Sunday, June 10th:
- Mob Wives spin-off, Mob Wives Chicago premieres on VH1, and airs Sundays at 8PM Eastern.
Monday, June 11th:
- Tia & Tamera airs on Style, Mondays at 8PM Eastern. Returning for a 2nd season is this Style reality show following real life twins Tia Mowry-Hardrict and Tamera Mowry-Housley who starred in Sister, Sister.
- Chicagolicious. Airing on the Style network, this spin off of Jerseylicious follows hairstylist AJ Johnson who owns AJ’s of Chicago and services celebrities like Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman. Chicagolicious airs Mondays, 9PM Eastern.
Tuesday, June 12th:
- Barter Kings airs on A&E, Tuesdays at 9PM ET. A new audition to what we call austerity TV, this reality show follows a pair who successively trade lower value items for higher and higher value ones until they've gotten what they wanted.
- Teen Mom is back, but this will be the last season with the original cast, who've been plagued by problems. Airs on MTV, Tuesdays 10PM Eastern.
Monday, June 18th:
- The Glass House. If CBS doesn't win its legal bid to prevent ABC from airing this Big Brother rip-off, the reality game show will air Mondays at 10PM Eastern.
- Miss Advised airs on Bravo, Mondays at 10PM. This new reality show follows several relationship coaches who are single and unable to fix their own love lives.
Tuesday, June 19th:
- Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp airs on Lifetime, Tuesdays at 10PM. This show follows Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol now that the teen mom has returned home to Alaska.
Thursday, June 21st:
- Snooki & JWOWW. This Jersey Shore spinoff follows Snooki and JWOWW as roommates. It airs Thursdays on MTV at 10PM Eastern.
Sunday, June 24th:
- The Great Escape airs on TNT, Sundays at 10PM Eastern. This new competition puts 2-person teams into their own action films by making them escape a deserted island, POW camp or prison.
