Make Me A Supermodel: Episode Eight

From Angela Williams, for About.com

BYE JACKI!

After last week’s lackluster performances, Jacki, Perry and Ben are at America’s mercy. Jacki is stunned when it is announced that she cannot be made into a supermodel. She vows to keep hope alive as she is driven off into the sunset. Or to the airport. Whichever. At the house, everyone seems to think that arrogant Perry will leave. They are shocked when he and Ben arrive back at the house. Even Ben wanted Perry to leave. Now, only Shannon and Holly are left to represent the ladies.

HITTING THE SLOPES

They get mail telling them to be ready to leave at 3:30 a.m. for a little trip. The clocks go off, and they get up and out and end up meeting Nikki at the Wyndham Mountain Ski Resort. She tells them the shoot will be all about speed and motion. As she is detailing the shoot, Shannon, who has been sick, drops to her knees in agony. The medics take her a way and the show must go on. They are all dolled up in Ralph Lauren and Jon Varvados (don’t shoot me for misspelling that ‘cause I sounded it out…) and pose in pairs on skis and boogie boards. Ronnie and Perry are put together, and manage after a few falls to get a couple of good shots. Ben and Holly look cute and cozy on a boogie board complete with wine glasses full of….wine. Ice, wine, balance. Either they will get good shots, or good feelings. Shannon returns from the medical center to complete the task at hand and gets in some good shots with both Casey and Franki, who look more like they were the sick ones. The person that did not impress the photographer was Franki, and he is sent back to the house in New York, while the others are given a night on the slopes or at the lodge for fun. The next morning, Clay, the trainer, wakes everyone up and reminds them it’s a competition. Instead of a workout in the gym, they will pair into teams and build snow towers the height of the tallest person on each team. The losing team has to go back to New York and clean the stank house with toothbrushes. As they build, Ben, who is paired with the ladies, says to Perry, “We both have two girls on our team,” referring to both Ronnie and Casey. Then Ben comments that their tower looks like a large (insert male anatomy here), and asks “what man prides himself in building a (insert male anatomy here again)”. Ronnie says “One that isn’t going to clean the house,” and Ben responds “Or one that’s secretly gay.” Everyone is surprised by Ben’s verbal assault, especially Casey, who is straight, and Ben, his GBFF (Gay Best Friend Forever), and roommate. Then Ben, being the sore loser, knocks their tower over.

BACK AT HOME

Back at the house, the tools are out for cleaning, and Shannon, Holly and Ben get to work. Ronnie has a talk with Ben about his insensitive remarks at the lodge, and Ben apologizes to both Ben and Casey, and they all make nice like nothing happened. Group hug. Not a gay one, just a group one. Wouldn’t want anyone to think Ben is using is insensitivity to hide something…

THE RUNWAY

Shannon is still sick and throwing up all over the place. She goes to a hospital. No diagnosis though, so she gets back to the runway in time to do her thing, and then she’ll go back to the hospital after they roll this week’s credits. Real trooper. Nikki tells them they will have to walk up to a spinning platform, step up and give three poses, step off and leave the runway. They are modeling clothes from the 2008 Ben Sherman Fall Collection. Even though Shannon didn’t get to practice, she does a better job than most of the fellas. At judging, Ben admits he doesn’t see himself as sexy. Dummy. He’s placed in the bottom three along with Franki and Casey. Oh well, we’ll see if America keeps him around another week! Ciao!
