Hopes and Dreams
The remaining five contenders talk about their various hopes and dreams as they near the finish line for this season of Project Runway. Not surprisingly, each of them hoped to win it all. Sweet P noted that she was surprised by Ricky's ouster last week but since it was between him and her, she wasn't overly upset by it, because she was 'so not ready to go home.
Double Elimination
After doing her usual models elimination, Heidi revealed that this week's challenge would be a double elimination. Two of the contenders would be 'out' and the final 3 would get to showcase an entire collection during Fashion Week at Bryant Park.
A Big Last Field Trip
The contenders were told to meet Tim Gunn at NYC's Museum of Art, which is one of the largest art museums in the world. Or as Chris put it, 'it's huge!'
Artistic License
This week's challenge required the contenders to create an outfit that was inspired by a piece of art that they would select in the museum. Because the museum housed thousands of works of art, their choices were narrowed down to the Roman/Greek sculptures display, the European paintings display or the Temple of Dendur display.
Time and Money
The contenders were given 2 days and $300.00 to complete the task.
What's Your Inspiration?
Christian selected a Spanish military painting as his inspiration. Chris selected a portrait of the Marquise D'Argence. Jillian selected a painting entitled, 'Scenes from the Story of the Argonauts.' Sweet P selected a painting of a peacock. And Rami selected a sculpture of the Greek goddess, Aphrodite, citing that it was a 'soulmate thing' when he saw the marble sculpture.
Let's Make Some Noise. . .Not!
Rami noted that the other contenders viewed this last challenge as a way to go over-the-top, but he wasn't interested in that. Choosing to create another one of his patented draped dresses, he noted that he was 'not here to make noise [but] to make beautiful work.'
Last Hope?
Sweet P confessed that she wanted to win because her business at home was in trouble. It has apparently run out of money, so a win on Project Runway would really help to give the business a boost.
Time Enough to Meddle
We have been both impressed and annoyed at how Christian has been able to meet these challenges while also finding the time to meddle in the other contenders' affairs. He's managed to keep abreast of everyones designs, and give his (usually negative) opinion on their work. That's some serious multitasking!
MIA Model
Sweet P's model does not show up at the appointed hour for fittings, although Tim assured her that her model would be showing up. Sweet P is left in a bit of limbo as a result. As the second day came to a close, her model finally showed up, but it only gave Sweet P about 2 hours to do the fitting, make adjustments and finish as much work as possible before the next day's runway show.
Make-Up Consultation
Collier Strong, from L'Oreal Paris Make-up, consulted with each contender about their model's runway look, wanting to make their make-up be yet another aspect of the challenge's artistic expression.
Nap Time?
To everyone's surprise, with about 4-5 hours left to go in the second day, Chris declared that he was done with his design, and decided to take a nap.
